This is as shocking news as any to wake up to. Peter Dolving, frontman of seminal Swedish melodic death metal band The Haunted announced today via Facebook that dude is quitting the band effective immediately. It doesn't seem like it was a positive break up either:

“I am officially quitting The Haunted. After years of working with the band, I am out. I have had it. I will NOT answer questions to why. It’s no one elses business. Thank you very much. I am looking forward to seeing you people at other shows with other projects.”

Yikes! The Haunted also confirmed that Dolving is gone via their Facebook page:

“Peter has decided to leave The Haunted permanently.
We don’t have any more news or info for you regarding this at the moment,
but stay tuned for future updates…

“We just wanted to put and end to all the rumors out there.”

The Haunted was born out of the ashes of At The Gates, and their self-titled debut still ranks as one of my all time favorites, and I'm listening to it now as I write this post. If you're wondering what Dolving will be up to, his new band ROSVO has just released a new video (how convenient)

As for The Haunted, this isn't the first time Dolving has left the band. Marco Aro replaced Dolving for a few records and you have to wonder if he will be asked to return again. Or, perhaps this is the end for the Haunted? When we find out, you will find out!
