Metal Injection

Good news for Behemoth frontman, Adam "Nergal" Darski; he's not going to jail. He was brought to trial in Poland recently by the All-Polish Committee for Defense Against Sects, over offending religious feelings in his home country. Nergal reportedly calling the Catholic Church "the most murderous cult on the planet" during a September 2007 performance, followed by him ripping out passages from a copy of the bible (sidenote: how fucking metal is that?)

Anyway, a judge sensibly ruled that Nergal did not commit a crime, he was simply expressing himself, as the judge considered the act a form of art. Hooray for Polish judges. Nergal commented:

"I'm so glad to see that intelligence won over religious fanatics in my home country. Though there's still so much work to be done to make things right… But I'm sure that I'm on the right path to ultimate freedom! The battle is won, but the war ain't over."

This whole trial was pretty absurd and it's great to hear that Nergal can finally put it past him and focus on the important thing: melting faces as Behemoth returns to playing live shows. [via AP]
