Ticketmaster Sued Over Convenience Charges, Forced To Offer Refunds

Here's a bright story to end the week on. Everybody loathes going to Ticketmaster and paying ridiculous convience fees that come sometimes equal 50% markup on the original ticket prices. Two people had enough and filed a class-action lawsuit against the ticket giant AND WON. Metal Insider breaks down what this means for you:

Anyone that bought tickets between October 21, 1999 and October 19, 2011 is eligible to GET PAID! Don’t get so excited, though. The settlement is $1.50 per transaction, up to 17 orders, and it’s not a payout, just credit to your Ticketmaster account. If you used UPS for expedited delivery on those purchases, you’re entitled to an additional $5 credit per ticket. All you’ll need to do to redeem your credit is wait for an e-mail to come to the address associated with your Ticketmaster account.

I wouldn't start counting those refunds yet, you'll have to wait until April of next year to get them at the earliest. Also, Ticketmaster does not even have to stop screwing people out of convenience fees, just mention that they're doing it in fine print on their site. America!
