Despite rock and metal declining in popularity, the big name tours are still doing pretty well! Guns N' Roses recently broke into the Top 5 most successful tours of all time, of any genre list, but that's looking at the tour as a whole from its inception in April 2016. Pollstar is taking a look at specifically all the 2017 dates of any given tour and parsing out who had the best year.

Unsurprisingly, Metallica came in at #1 grossing $110.3 million with 1.14 million tickets sold. Guns N' Roses was a close second $98 million grossed and 837,000 tickets sold. Then there's Iron Maiden at #11 with $21.4 million grossed and 330,000 tickets sold, and even Tool at #13 with $19 million grossed and 246,000 tickets sold. Actually, Maynard James Keenan had a great year with touring considering A Perfect Circle was only three below Tool with $12.8 million grossed and 223,000 tickets sold.
