Music isn't a competition, but album sales are.

Now, art is not a competition. But, when there is a weekly Billboard chart ranking album sales, it's easy to get caught up in the numbers. Last week's charts are in and there is a surprising result.

Five Finger Death Punch's album, Got Your Six, landed at #2 on the Billboard charts in it's debut week, which ended September 10th, with 119,000 copies sold.

In that same time period, Iron Maiden sold 75,000 copies of The Book of Souls landing at number four on the U.S. charts. That's a difference of 44,000 records.

So what does this mean? It means that Five Finger Death Punch have more fans in America willing to buy their record than Iron Maiden.

Does it mean Five Finger have more fans than Iron Maiden? No. Does it mean that Five Finger is more popular currently than Iron Maiden? Arguable, but likely not.

Does this mean Five Finger's marketing team is better at selling their new record than Iron Maiden's? Yes.

Does this mean that Five Finger Death Punch's fans are less tech saavy in terms of bootlegging than Iron Maiden fans? Arguably.

Am I ever going to stop asking questions and end this post? Possibly.
