GENE SIMMONS thinks video gamers will pay 80 bucks for a plastic replica of his axe (and he's probably right)

Posted on October 30th, 2008

Gene Simmons will go above and beyond selling out to get some sweet licensing cash. So it's no surpise that his latest venture is into the overly lucrative new musical video gam market. Above you will find an image of the brand new Gene Simmons Axe Guitar controller, compatible with both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It definitely looks cool but, did you see the price tag? 80 dollars! That means the accessory costs more than the actual game does (60 bucks for the standalone versions). 80 bucks?!?!? With that said, if you are recession-proof, or happen to have stole somebody's credit card, you can pre-order it on Amazon. Oh, and it only works with PS2 or PS3, sorry Xbox and Wii users.

This guitar is great – some googling revealed an interesting behind the scenes story:

Looks like this company is the one who actually designed it for Gene Simmons – but the thing is – I2G/Gene stiffed them and never paid for the building of it. These people are the ones behind the Flashback 2 and other cool looking products as well – they build electronic works of art. If Gene played a concert – he'd expect to get paid, well these people built what looks like a great product, real shame that didn't get paid.
