Death Metal Band MORTICIAN Inspires Logo For High-End Fashion Company

Too far?

Too far?

As if there is any doubt that heavy metal style is infiltrating the fashion world, today comes more proof. For the last few years, major retailers have been trying to co-opt the metal look. There are gaudy leather jackets, gaudy patched sweat pants and even more traditional metal designs, albeit overpriced, from H&M and Urban Outfitters. But now, actual clothing makers and designers are getting in on the trend.

Metal Insider reports that Japanese fashion company Avalone revealed their Winter/Fall collection recently, and revealed a new logo, which is clearly inspired by legendary death metal band Mortician. Here's a closer look:

Mortician guitarist Roger Beaujard claims the band was never contacted, but they still may sue:

“Do I think it’s ridiculous? Yes I do. Am I fuming mad? Not really. It’s kinda funny. Am I considering a lawsuit? Maybe. Probably not. Do I think this hurts our brand? Hard to tell. Am I concerned that some douche bag spoiled rich millennial kid is ‘pretending’ to be ‘tough’ by wearing a cheap rip off of our logo on his overpriced rags masquerading as fashion? Not really.”

Who will be the next band to have their logo ripped off by a big brand?

Kanye West already co-opted Metallica's logo for his own, wears unreadable fashion designer logos, Megadeth shirts and the gaudiest metal ensemble ever invented. Could the Yeezy line show more death metal coutoure in the future? Let's hope not.
