im just glad i got to go to this tour it was amazing will never forget it. really sucks that marduk couldn't make it though said they would come the u.s. after the blackenedfest but i bet it will be another year before they come to the u.s.

Yes, this situation is NOT Mayhem's fault. They didn't come all the way over to the states to find that Marduk was not showing up and that none of the contracts had been redone so the promoters had no idea what they were supposed to be paying out every night. Why would it be their jobs to pay the bus drivers and make sure that everyone got their guarantees. That is the job of the agent and the tour manager. That's why they get paid. Of course Mayhem is still going to want the money they had been promised…wouldn't you?

I was talking to Morfeus (guitar player, MayheM) last night about the tour. They got fucked over big time. They were the ones who had to explain to pissed off fans who were looking forward to seeing the opening acts. MayheM themselves hardly had enough gas money and tour riders to keep them going in the states. When you are thousands of miles from home, you need more than the "case of beer and bottled water" tour riders that many underground bands get.

i agree with Susanne. it's not Mayhem's responsibility to babysit everyone. they're the only ones that are from Europe. why should they have to cover for everyone just because the booking agency was not diligent enough to foresee the inevitable end? if anything Marduk or Marduk's label should have some obligation to cover some of the extra expenses that they did not follow thru with. as far as i can tell Mayhem are the only ones who are probably doing this shit for a living. at least this is a great story non-the-less. there can't be metal without a little drama involved.

This is such bullshit. I blame those assholes Marduk who didnt send any notice until a good way into the tour, saying their idiot member didnt bring in an important document to get his visa. I bet its a bunch of bullshit too cause they said earlier in the year they would be working on their record in may so they probably just ditched the tour and sent some stupid made-up reason when people were bugging them about where the fuck they were. They should be fucking charged for that bus they had reserved only for the fact they didnt send a notice like right before or day of the start of the tour, unprofessional dickheads. Cause of all that this all blew up and showed what kind of dickheads Mayhem are who felt they were more important cause they were headliners so they requested every penny and made the supporting bands starve some more.
I know enough black metal fans are happy about this but i hate it, i wanted to see every band on tour cause i love both black and death metal and now im stuck with only mayhem for like 12.50 less, its not even fucking worth it.

Whoever wrote the article has not so much knowledge about this business.
To speak about ethic and responsibility never can be wrong. But why blame it on a band?
I run an agency based in Europe. (so sorry about poor English) And for me it looked like a complete chaos created by a booking agency. Why this company name is never mentioned?
It was not up to a band to pay sleepercoaches or drivers or support bands. They probably have long agreed contracts.
Why they should pay everything coz of the lack of professionalism by the agent? Or play for less money? They didnt go on stage and play half sets.
For me it looks like the booking company knew since ages that one of the headliners couldnt make it. Or the money situation is fucked up. Of course they had to negotiate new. In this situation a responsible agency informs everybody about the situation asap and day by day. To give them a chance to decide whats to do. But it doesnt look like this. They let everybody including the drivers run in a disaster. Everything was already too late.
Sorry but I didnt see this point in the article.
