BLACKENEDFEST Day 4: A Not So Withered Orlando Party

Posted on May 27th, 2009

We sent roving reporter Justina Villanueva on the road with this summer's darkest tour, Blackenedfest. She will be checking in constantly with dispatches from the tour. Catch up with all her tour diaries, as well as a ton of photos at the Blackenedfest hub.

Day 4

The Orlando show marked the last show for Withered's Chris Freeman for this tour. He's going back home to Atlanta to get certified to be a personal trainer. And because Dan Rozenblum (tour booking agent) and Cartel Brown (tour manager) live in Orlando, the night exploded into many moments of debauchery and madness. Once I found out that the bus call wasn't until 10 am, I knew it would be a good night. Especially because the bands are just starting to warm up to each other.

Seth Rogan or Mike Thompson?

People were walking in and out of Cephalic's "vaporizer room" baked. There was leftover champagne and many sad empty bottles of Yuengling. The night ended better for most. The "better" excludes Mike Thompson, Withered's Seth Rogan look-a-like guitarist. Making our way from a random sports bar on Court Street to the buses parked several blocks away, Mike decided to hug or push Chris. I can't remember which it was, but it was a metal head's way of saying "I love you." And before anyone knew it the two were on the floor rolling on the cement sidewalk. When Mike got up from the floor his right eyebrow was scraped and bloody. Don't be so worried for him, at least his beard was clean. Oh, and he's responsible for spotting and taking a brave photo of the drunk woman above. You know the one with 8 inches of 2-ply hanging from her cootch.
