Shocking Revelations
TRIVIUM's Matt Heafy Wants To Go Dubstep Too
Not exactly shocking, or confirmed, but Matt Heafy was recently interviewed by by Loudwire and was asked who he would be interested in collaborating with. His answer has a lot of wobba wobba in it. (more…)

Dude Impersonates BRING ME THE HORIZON Singer To Lure Woman, Attempts To Murder Her
I know this is two Bring Me The Horizon stories in one day, but this one is too good to pass up. Some British arsehole by the name of David Russell posed as Oli Sykes, frontman of BMTH, and managed to lure a girl from America to Britain. He "took her to a forest and persuaded the 19-year-old to wear a blindfold, saying he had a gift for her" He then slit her throat. As she tried to escape, this psychopath stabbed her some more, headbutted her and hit her face with a log. Somehow she survived, and now this dickwad is getting life in prison. Dave Mustaine Says He'll Be Touring with MOTORHEAD, VOLBEAT, LACUNA COIL in 2012
Breaking News: Dave Mustaine likes to talk. A lot. Last week, he talked about how God healed him enough to play the Big 4 show. This week, he's giving away future lineups. He's already hinted that Gigantour might be coming back next year. In a recent interview, he gave away a lineup that sounds very much like a giant lineup: Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. Sounds like a successful tour package to me.
If you're a fan of Mustaine like I am, the whole interview is worth your time, especially at the 3:00 mark, when he says that "most fans want to just see Megadeth and Metallica and that's it, and then he continues to lobby for this unnecessary supergroup with Jaymz, Lars and Ellefson. Watch the interview after the jump: (more…)

DAVE MUSTAINE Wants to Rejoin METALLICA Form Supergroup with HETFIELD & ULRICH
Another week, another great Dave Mustaine quote. Mustaine has been out on the Rockstar Mayhem Fest and has been giving interviews to various outlets all over the country, at least when he's in a good mood. Frank, while conducting interviews for our Ask The Artist series, even witness first-hand Mustaine's lack of interest in interviews, when mid-interview, he grabbed the reporter's question sheet, said they were dumb and he just got up and left. Go Mustaine!
Anyway, he seemed pretty talkative in a recent interview with this local Dallas radio station and he dropped an interesting tidbit about working with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich: (more…)

LIFE OF AGONY's Keith Caputo Underwent A Sex Change Operation?
Talk about shocking! Keith Caputo, frontman of legendary Brooklyn metal act Life Of Agony is on his way to being a frontwoman! The band will be playing what looks to be their final shows this weekend. There are many hints to his transition on his Twitter page, with one tweet spelling it out for everybody saying "M2F transexuals like me are the women who give up male privilege for femininity! Threaten the patriarchy!" Also, Caputo's personal website uses the pronoun "her." (more…)

Here's Tom Cruise in the new "Rock Of Ages" Movie
Make it stop! Only because I enjoy torturing you junkies, do I decide to post this topless Tom Cruise still from the forthcoming Rock Of Ages movie adaptation of the Broadway musical which uses a ton of hair metal songs from the 80s. Cruise is playing the lead role in what is sure to be a really really shitty movie. If you disagree about that last statement, here is a full synopsis of the movie: (more…)

METALLICA Recorded A Full Album With Lou Reed
Talk about a meeting of the minds. In a collaboration that could either be really great, or really terrible (or just literally the sum of their parts), Metallica announced on their official site that they have just wrapped recording sessions with the legendary Lou Reed, he of The Velvet Underground fame, and an all-around music innovator. The band met Reed at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and decided to make a record together. Here is the full statement from the band: (more…)

Is This REALLY The Cover of the new LIMP BIZKIT Album?
Ok, look… I promise you guys we aren't going to be doing much coverage of this new (and most likely terrible) new Limp Bizkit album, but I really couldn't stay away from this story. According to ThePRP, this is the new cover of the album. I am pretty much speechless. The only question that immediately comes to mind is, "Why are those chicks cross-eyed?"

OZZFEST Is Not Happening This Year
In a shocker to maybe 5 Ozzy fans, it looks like Ozzfest is not happening this year. It barely happened last year, with only a handful of dates in major cities and with this Summer's touring looking as packed as ever, it's not hard to understand why Ozzy won't be doing it. There is nobody good available to book a tour with! Here's Ozzy's offical excuse: (more…)

DREAM THEATER Announce New Drummer
Phew! I thought this charade would never end, but Dream Theater has in fact announced Mike Portnoy's replacement by welcoming Mike Mangini! It kind of makes me wonder if the fact they both share the same first name has anything to do with it. You know, like when you accidentally call your new girlfriend by your ex-girlfriends name and she gets all upset with you. Smooth move DT, I see what you did there. (more…)

Did DAVE MUSTAINE just admit that Risk sucked?
Dave Mustaine is just all over the place promoting his autobiography Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir (our review here / audio reading here) and it has lead to some interesting quotes, including one in a recent interview with hipster rag Vice, when discussing the often-bashed album Risk: (more…)

DANZIG is nuts

Hipster rag Vice Magazine conducted a fantastic interview with Glenn Danzig, proving that the dude is a little off. It's certainly worth reading to hear about his thoughts on how chemo is bullshit, his touring regimen and other Danzig quirks. Here is my favorite part of the interview:
So how do practices work when you’re the primary songwriter?
I’m the only songwriter.Do you show up with prewritten parts? Do you say, “Hey, Tommy, here’s the new part”?
This is the same question you would ask Bowie or somebody.Yeah, but I’m never going to get to meet Bowie. You’re it.
You’ve never been able to ask this question before?I’ve never spoken with anybody who’s reached this point in their career.
Oh, OK. Well, basically I write the songs, I bring them down, show everybody their part, and then we play it until it sounds good.So if at any point one of your musicians says, “I’ve got a way this could sound better,” does that constitute employee insubordination?
If it’s just a way to play the riff or the chord pattern, no. But if you’re trying to change the actual makeup of the song, yeah, that won’t fly.
Do yourself a favor, and read the whole thing. It's full of unintentional comedy gold.

Mike Portnoy to drum on new AVENGED SEVENFOLD album

Well, this is a little unexpected. As we mentioned on the Livecast last night, DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy has agreed to drum on the new AVENGED SEVENFOLD record. As you recall, previous drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan was found dead in his home at the end of last year. The band was set on recording a new album and decided to give a call to Rev's favorite drummer, Portnoy, who agreed. Here is the official statement from the band: (more…)

OZZY Fans Can Read! Autobiography lands on NY Times Best Sellers List

Who knew? The Prince of Darkness sells books. A lot of books! Blabbermouth is reporting that Ozzy's book, I Am Ozzy, came in at #2 on the New York Times hardcover non-fiction best sellers list. If you look at the list, it's Ozzy and a bunch of political books. That's serious numbers. A big congrats to Ozzy and his ghostwriter for the achievement.
I have yet to read the book and don't really plan on it. But, if any of you junkies have picked it up, let us know what you think in the comments.

Thrash's Big 4 to tour together?

File this under huge rumor. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Kerry King yapped about the possibility of thrash's big four (that's METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX) could be touring together soon:
“I’ve heard people referencing Lars,” says King. “I don’t know Lars that well and I haven’t heard it from Lars but apparently he’s talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth (and), I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together but how do you leave out Machine Head? There’s better options than Anthrax and that’s nothing against Anthrax, but they’ve just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn’t make as much sense to me.”
Ok, as you can see, King is already talking shit on Anthrax. Besides that, I just NEVER EVER see this happening. Dave Mustaine hates Lars and Metallica with all his being. You expect him to actually open for them? Because that's the only way it would happen, with Metallica on top. And then, Slayer open for Megadeth? And Anthrax as the opener to the whole thing? Personally, I think there are far too many egos involved for any of this to happen. But, if there is some slight chance that this would happen, I will be first in line to check out the show!
