In the middle of the week, I'll post a few hilarious band on band interviews. This concludes the week-long countdown.

For anybody who has been a long-time visitor of the site, was there any doubt that GWAR would be my #1 favorite video? We have done a few video clips with GWAR and it was hard to pick just one favorite so I decided to pick the two Moscow Metal Minute clips we shot with the galactic overlords.

First up was the interview that "my alter-ego" Metal Misha conducted with Oderus Urungus. This clip could not be any more perfect. The night before this interview 3D (Sinister Sasha) and I discussed possible questions. He brought up that Misha should just mistake Oderus for Gene Simmons of KISS. So we rolled with it. When the interview started and then he got up and choked me, I immediately knew we had a legendary clip on our hands. And it kept going and going. Oderus did an amazing Gene Simmons impersonation. We just kept riffing off of each other. I had some questions pre-written but none of it was scripted. All Oderus knew was that I would be interviewing him as a Borat-like Russian character. It's always fun to do interviews with bands who I am friends with. This holds extremely true for THE RED CHORD. We've interviewed this band many times but the above interview is by far my favorite. It's just all schtick. I actually went into this trying to get some serious answers but it was not happening. (more…)

It's always cool when a band that you are into turn out to be really awesome bros. Such was the case with A LIFE ONCE LOST. I remember seeing an interview the whole band did on Uranium and thinking wow, these guys are hilarious. I want to hang out with them. Sure enough, the next time they came around I scheduled an interview which ended up being the masterpiece featured in this post. We took over the backstage bathroom at a smaller former venue in NYC called the Knitting Factory during the Spring of 2006. This allowed everybody to just focus on the interview and the jokes. I love how "real" this interview is. I feel it is a true portrait of a band on the road. At one point, interview hit that mark where Snake asked the question: Why aren't we smoking weed? I don't even know where to begin. We attended a tour package in the Spring of 2008 which featured THE TONY DANZA TAP DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA, SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY and BENEATH THE MASSACRE all of which made cameos in this interview. Before the interview, I was warned that the lead singer, Jesse was really drunk. The band asked if we could just do a text interview but they didn't realize that being drunk results in great footage. Little did I know that this would be a huge trainwreck. Seriously, its just 11 minutes of randomness. (more…)

I'm very excited to be starting the week off with this SKELETONWITCH interview. Definitely a great piece of video footage. Let's set the scene. We were at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in 2008 and used our room as a makeshift interview location. The band shows up with a dude to just carry their beer for them (which we talk about in the interview). This interview is the epitome of what I try to accomplish with my interviews and that's just make it seem like a bunch of dudes just shooting the shit at a bar and I think this one totally comes off that way.
