If you somehow don't know about Polkadot Cadaver, you're missing out. The band features two members formerly of Dog Fashion Disco, including one of my favorite vocalists Todd Smith. The band is about to drop their third album, Last Call In Jonestown, and have been peppering out songs from it for the past few months. The latest sample of the new disc features Neil Fallon from Clutch, and golly if it isn't just grand.
Listen to it here… (more…)
Greetings once again all you metal nerds. This was a rough week. Rough in a sense that there was almost too much good stuff to talk about from so many genres, subgenres, subsubgenres, etc. I could have gone on and on with this week's WEEKLY INJECTION, but alas, the fancy beer I can't pronounce is setting in. Now, onward… (more…)
I was really pumped to hear the new Intronaut full-length, Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones) when I heard the first single, "Milk Leg," now I'm beyond pumped. The band has posted a second track, "The Welding" over at Pitchfork.com and it's the perfect Monday morning jam. It starts out slow and ambient and really picks up resulting in some serious headbanging. Take a listen
Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones) comes out March 19th on Century Media.
Lyric videos are all the rage nowadays, and over the last few days, three killer videos were released highlighting new songs from Killswitch Engage, Clutch and Within The Ruins. We've already heard the Killswitch and Clutch songs, but the Within The Ruins is all new and all brutal. Check it out:
The Bronx is not a band I was ever super-crazy about, but listening to their new album, The Bronx (IV), I feel like I've been missing out a bit. It's not quite metal, it's more on the punk rock side, but definitely the type of band you can get into if you dig bands like Every Time I Die and Botch. Check out the full stream at Rollingstone.com. The album is released on February 5th via ATO. Pre-order the album on Amazon.com.
KEN Mode is gearing up to release Entrench on March 19th via Seasons of Mist. Today, the band released a new track on Stereogum that has me really pumped for this release. It features a guest appearance by Dave Verellen of legendary mathcore act Botch and I probably spent the last 20 minutes listening to it on loop. If you like noisecore, this is all you. Have yourself a listen and let us know what you think.
Fuck yes, NAILS is back! The Cali metallic-hardcore experts are getting set to release their new full-length album, Abandon All Life on March 19th via Southern Lord and our first taste of new music over at Pitchfork is fantastic. Yes, this is another Kurt-Ballou produced gem. I can't wait to jam the entire thing.
Another, awesome, new Pig Destroyer track is currently streaming over at Revolver's website. Their undeniably awesome new crusher, Book Burner comes out October 23rd on Relapse.
Oh, and hey, did we mention the band is playing the third annual MetalSucks/Metal Injection/1000 Knives CMJ showcase, on October 18th with KEN Mode, Early Graves and Encrust. in Brooklyn. Tickets are going fast, but still available here.
As I Lay Dying have a big day tomorrow. Their new album, Awakened, is finally out in stores, and the band will celebrate by playing a free show in New York City to those who bought the album (details here). To celebrate, the band is starting things a little early, as they are currently streaming the entire album over at Noisecreep. I have just started listening to the stream, but it sounds heavy and catchy… the sound the band has become known for. Listen to the stream and let us know what you think in the comments.
Devin Townsend Project's latest opus, Epicloud comes out next Tuesday, and you can now stream the whole thing. Preview it a week before release? Why, yes and thank you. You can hear it over at Exclaim. The album is very catchy and uplifting. Fun, even. It's not really a metal record, more hard rock. Let us know what you think in the comments. And don't forget to check out our just posted photo gallery of his current tour with Katatonia and Paradise Lost.
Dear London, we're jealous of you! That's because you get to go see Neurosis and Godflesh play on the same bill on Sunday, December 2nd at The Forum. Just saying… really jealous. Tickets can be purchased here
Neurosis will be supporting their new album, Honor Found In Decay out October 30th on Neurot Recordings
I really dig Nachtmystium's new opus, Silencing Machine, and it continues the band's streak of exceptional albums. You can now stream the album in it's entirety over at SPIN.com. The album comes out tomorrow on Century Media. It's heavy as fvck!
When the Old Man Gloom news rains, it pours. We got really excited a few weeks ago that OMG was touring, then, a few days ago, we learned they finished a new album! Now, we learn the band will be selling said album at said upcoming tour. Brilliant! The tour kicks off this week, and the album, titled NO will be for sale. If you can't make it out to the shows, the official release date is June 26th. YES!
While I didn't have a chance to speak to Noa before posting this, I just know she is super excited for the new album from Norway's Borknagar. The band will be releasing Urd on March 26th, 2012 in Europe/March 27th, 2012 in North America via Century Media Records. You can stream the first single, "Roots" on the Metal Hammer Germany site.
Our buddies at MetalSucks have alerted us to the fact that you can hear 30 second samples of all the tracks from the forthcoming T.R.A.M. and Veil of Maya releases. You can sample T.R.A.M. here (there is also the full song,"Lingua Franca” here) and stream Veil of Maya samples here (full song “Vicious Circles” here).
