Musicians React To DEFTONES Bassist Chi Cheng's Death

This weekend, we reported on the tragic passing of Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who died at the age of 42 after his heart stopped. Cheng was in a coma for three years stemming from a 2008 car accident, and then still in a vegetative state for the remainder of his life. It was truly a sad end to a great life. So close, yet so far.

It seemed a new TOOL album was on the horizon. Their webmaster was even hinting that writing and recording of the music was halfway done. Last week, the webmaster followed up saying that a member of the band injured themselves while riding a Vespa, delaying the record.

Turns out, the delay is now through the rest of the year, according to a new interview with frontman Maynard James Kennan. (more…)
