More than a few metalheads were bummed when Pestilence couldn't make it to the Maryland Deathfest last year. Looks like the band is planning to make that up that date this year, and even head out on a full U.S. run, their first in 16 years. Holy crap! I just realized that South By Southwest is just over two weeks away. Frank and I will be heading down there for the first time this year and we are already a bit overwhelmed with the amount of shows happening. And they keep piling on. Two bands we certainly support, HULL and SNAKE SUSTAINE have just been announced for the "ChronicYouth.com Freak Pit Day Party" also featuring YaHoWah13, Entrance Band, Joan Of Arc, Barn Burner, Serena Maneesh, Zoroaster, Atlas Moth, Dark Castle, Lullabye Arkestra, Death Beofre Dishonor, Alpha & Omega, Bitter End, Goes Cube, Hopewell and Kreisor. We will definitely be popping in to check our bros out!
There is a thread started in our forum where we (and others) will be constantly posting updates on showcases being announced, so if you want to keep up to date with it, just follow the thread. Of course if you'll be in Austin for this, you will not want to miss the Metal Injection sponsored FULL METAL TEXAS event.
Both bands have also announced shows that they will be playing on the road down to SXSW. Here is each band's itinerary: (more…)

Now this is a tour that makes sense. ROB ZOMBIE and ALICE COOPER have announced they are heading on the road together. It's a match made in heaven hell! That's the good news. The bad news is due to Zombie's commitments to Mayhem Fest (and the fact that they have rules preventing you from hitting the markets where the fest will be for a certain amout of time before and after the tour) this tour only lasts seven days (and is mostly in Canada). Oh well. Maybe if it's really successful, they will book a full fledged tour in the Fall. Either way, here are the dates: (more…)
AMON AMARTH are coming back to the states! Besides playing the Metal Injection sponsored New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in April, they have announced an entire U.S. run, bringing out ELUVEITIE & HOLY GRAIL. Here are the dates: (more…)

CANNIBAL CORPSE have announced their first US tour since appearing on Mayhem Fest last Summer. The band will be taking out 1349, SKELETONWITCH and LECHEROUS NOCTURNE. Two big pieces of HIGH ON FIRE news to report on. First off, the title track off their upcoming CD, Snakes for the Divine, can be streamed over at SPIN.com. The track is killer. You can't resist headbanging. Speaking of which, you will get the chance to do so in person as the band has announced a full U.S. headlining tour. They will be bringing out PRIESTESS, BLACK COBRA and BISON BC, all very suitable openers. Want a prediction about this tour? Frontman Matt Pike will not be wearing a shirt. Also, they will rip live. Speaking of knowing how to book a tour, CONVERGE announced they are heading out on a full US run and are bringing various friends to different stops along the way. I guess the band doesn't want to get bored with their company. Either way, after making my favorite album of 2009, this is a must-see show for me. Complete lineup and openers below… (more…)
