If you've been following this site for the last few months, you've seen our coverage of the Ozzy/Zakk Wylde split. To quickly recap, Ozzy kicked Zakk out and revealed so via a magazine interview. Zakk didn't even know. Then, two months of awkwardness lead to Gus G. being named the new guitarist. Zakk then proceeded to flip out in interviews, not once, but twice. It looks like cooler heads have prevailed, and Zakk is keeping a positive outlook on things. In a recent interview, he compared being kicked out of Ozzy's band to parents kicking a kid out of their house:

Well, I'll tell you how it went down. This is how it went down. Oz and mom (Sharon Osbourne), they said, 'Zakk, son, we need to talk to you.' They sat me down at the kitchen table and said, 'Zakk, we're very proud of you, but you're 42 years old now. We just think it's about time you take your wife and your kids and you get the fuck outta your bedroom and grow the fuck up and get a job — because me and your mother want to enjoy our life now. I think we've done enough. You're 42, now get the fuck out of the house!

Ok, I can sort of see how that makes sense in a weird way. Instead of getting wasted at home, do it on your own time Zakk! He later went on to shed some praise on his replacement saying Gus G is "fucking awesome. So I hope he has a millisecond of the good time I had — that's a fucking lifetime. Gus will have a fucking blast, you know what I mean?" Not really, Zakk but it's good to see you've come to terms with it and aren't just acting like a jealous girlfriend.

One of my favorite, and completely underrated bands have decided to call it quits. San Fransico's ANIMOSITY haven't been active for about a year and while some assume it was because they were writing a new CD, those assumptions are incorrect. Artisan News Services posted a brief clip where they got a few soundbites from Ozzy Osbourne. We've covered to death the whole deal with him unceremoniously kicking out Zakk Wylde via a magazine article, but now Ozzy has made his first public comments on the issue. If you thought it would be some sort of apology, you would be in the wrong:

"I haven't fallen out with Zakk; he's a very good… Our relationship goes way beyond music," Ozzy said. "I just wanted to… He's got his own thing now, he's got his own band, he's got his own career — he don't need me anymore." He added, "I've a got a guy, Gus G., a guy from Greece — not the musical, the country of Greece."

Hmm, that's funny, because I do recall a certain radio show interview that Zakk Wylde did where he seemed rather pissed. Oh, well. Sorry, Zakk.

A few days ago, we posted about how DIMMU BORGIR kicked out two members and one of them revolted by changing his MySpace mood to "betrayed" and saying he was the main talent, blah blah blah they're nothing without him! We joked about how this is what a 15 year old couple's breakup would be like and now Dimmu are adding fuel to the fire, issuing a fucking novel of a statement yapping on and on and on about why they kicked those two jerks to the curb. Thankfully, MetalInsider have a bit more time on their hands then I do and pulled out a few hilarious quotes:

Lesson number one, the obvious one: Don’t forget to bring your instrument when you’re about to play a festival in which you’re going to perform in front of thousands of fans that have travelled far and paid money to see you play.

Lesson number two, a less obvious one and can easily be forgotten while under the influence but still: Don’t hurt yourself in an alcoholic rage smashing a glass to your forehead putting yourself, your band ‘mates,’ crew, not to mention the show(s), in jeopardy.

Now, auctioning off your band’s most recent album on eBay, only signed by yourself, can’t be looked upon in any other ways as pure greed, not to mention mockery, towards the rest of the members of the band that you’re still in, AND the fans.

One quote is just better than the next! How the fuck do you forget your instrument if you're in a band? That's like forgetting your keys (your oversized fucking keys!). Also, total dick move selling your own CD on eBay. That shit is reserved for baseball players not black metal musicians. Look, not that we don't know already. This is pretty much non-news, but Kelly Osbourne was quoted after Ozzy's Blizzcon performance pretty much confirming that Zakk is out.

It's great because it's the first time that this band has all played together — because there's a couple of new members. It's great to kind of — especially for my dad — to test it out on an audience like this that is so willing to have fun. it's great. . . It's fantastic. Sometimes it even shocks me that he still does what he does, but I guess when you're willing to do something, you're willing to do it.

Believe me, Kelly. It shocks all of us that he's still doing it. Anyway, this has been said before, but can somebody please make an official statement here? Or, like call Zakk Wylde maybe?

The power of the internet! It allows information to travel so fast, sometimes too fast. I was just browsing through Blabbermouth when I came upon the story of DIMMU BORGIR allegedly kicking out keyboardist Mustis and bassist/clean vocalist ICS Vortex. There was a part of this story that had me completely rotfl:

No further details are currently available, but it should be rather telling that Mustis has set the "mood indicator" on his MySpace page to "betrayed." (NOTE: Since this story was first published, Mustis< has changed his "mood indicator" setting to "creative.")

Expressing one's self through Myspace moods is usually reserved for 15 year old girls, not members of black metal bands. The best part is that he changed it after word got out. Did he just assume that people don't check the mood? Because they do, damn it!

Above you will find an interview that our resident Power Metal correspondant Mike conducted with FIREWIND last year. How is this related to Ozzy? Well, turns out the shorter dude in the interview may just be the new guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. Blabbermouth is speculating that Gus's first performance with the Iron Man will be at the upcoming BizCon which is news to (seemingly) former guitarist Zakk Wylde who thought that he was playing with Ozzy at the con.

Poor Zakk. Being left in the ditch without even a note or anything. It's actually pretty rude of Ozzy to put Zakk through all this shit without just giving the dude a phone call. Then again, based on some shit Zakk's been saying in radio interviews, maybe Ozzy doesn't even want to bother talking to the dude at the risk that he would flip out.

This is just getting more and more interesting as time passes. When we have any further developments, we will let you know.

Man, this who Ozzy/Zakk Wylde thing is becoming the feud of the summer. Yesterday, we posted an audio bit of Zakk acting like his girlfriend just broke up with him and now it seems he is going on a national publicity breakup tour as there is ANOTHER interview he did and the dude is just digging a deeper grave it seems. If anything, this is leading to some humorous quotes, such as the following nugget of joy:

"I'm just like… You could play with anybody you want. Put it this way… It's like my wife… You can be with any guy you wanna be with. But you know what?! If you're gonna be banging a guy in our bed, at least let me watch so I can enjoy it. Let me in on the skinny… what's going on here. That's just not… I don't give a [bleep] what anyone says, it ain't [bleep]ing cool. It's like, hey, you know what?! You're just [bleep]ing on me in a back [bleep]ing alley right now and [I'll] rip your [bleep]ing head off if you're gonna pull this shit. We'll [bleep]ing find out."

WHAT? So its cool for your wife to fuck dudes as long as you watch but its not cool for Ozzy to fuck you in back alleys? Zakk is clearly a misunderstood poet. If you're reading this Zakk, here is a little tip: Shut the fuck up! You are just embarassing yourself at this point. Don't talk to the press, just figure this shit out with Ozzy and move on. Then again, that sounds kind of boring, so for our entertainment…just keep going. This is comedy gold!
