Over an hour of pro-shot GOJIRA footage? Yes, please!

Posted on July 28th, 2010

My favorite thing about open air festivals in Europe is they always seem to manage to bring in a really fancy video crew and that footage always seems to make it's way online. Gojira may be laying low writing a new EP, but they made some time to do a French festival this footage is super crushing. This footage is worth forfeiting 72 minutes of your life for.

One of my most anticipated bands for the Summer Slaughter tour is definitely Animals As Leaders. I can now say, after watching a few HD bootlegs from their show in Fort Worth, TX – they are THE BAND I want to see the most on this tour. Holy fuck! They destroy. And, it's not like this is the first time I'm going to see them. I broke my Animals As Leaders cherry at South by Southwest a few months ago. But like a junkie, I want more! The NY show cant' come soon enough. Here are more bootlegs courtesy of Youtube user MangoMan33… (more…)

A/V Roundup: New music from AVENGED SEVENFOLD, SERJ TANKIAN; New EVERY TIME I DIE antics

Posted on July 23rd, 2010

It's Friday – time to party! Then again, when is it NOT time to party? I guess when you have to go to work. Bummer. But this is update isn't about bummers, it's about new music and video clips to distract you from the mundaneness of your everyday existence. Damn, bummer again. Here is today's A/V Roundup:

Avenged Sevenfold have released a new track, "Welcome To The Family" via an interesting cross promotion with the new Call of Duty game, Black Ops. Check out the track/video right here

Not to be outdone, Serj Tankian released another lyric video for the track "Left of Center". I dig it. Better than the last track he released. For all you Serj fans out there, our brobros at MetalSucks conducted a fantastic interview with him that was recently posted. Make sure to check it out.

Finally, the always entertaining Every Time I Die released the first episode of Shit Happens, The Series and it's of course hilarious. Put down whatever you are doing and watch it!

Screw Weed; Get High on MP3s

American news outlets never cease to disappoint me. Parents: here is the new phenomena that your kids probably didn't know about until reading this post: iDosing. Our bros at MetalSucks found this gem of a news report about kids who get high listening to sounds. Are these kids just broke? They can't afford actual drugs? Basically, the sound is just drone. Has this ever worked for anybody? I've listened to plenty of SunnO))) and I've never gotten high from the music (I got high before turning the music on). Don't be so cheap kids…quality over quantity! That's my life lesson for today!

Don't just take my word for how awesome LANDMINE MARATHON is

Posted on July 20th, 2010

Last week, I wrote about what an amazing frontwoman Landmine Marathon's Grace Perry is – but you no longer just have to take me at my word. Sean has upload an entire set from the band's performance at the Cake Shop last Thursday to the Belly Full of Hell channel. She is a friggen beast!

This really gets me excited for THE ACACIA STRAIN's Wormwood

Posted on July 20th, 2010

Last week, I got the digital advance of The Acacia Strain's new album, Wormwood and heavy is truly an understatement. These guys come out swinging and don't stop 'till the very end. Did you know the album comes out today? It's true. And, I'm not the only one raving about it. Famed musician Marinara Montgomery has a thing or two to say about it as well. Check it out below.

9 Minutes of HD MESHUGGAH fan-cam footage

Posted on July 19th, 2010

Not much else to say is there? Meshuggah live fancam, in HD (god bless today's technology). Stellar sound, incredible groove, you know the deal. Watching this made me realize I NEED to see these dudes live again. Why can't they tour the states more often? We know they are working on a new album (and a side project) so a U.S. tour is probably at least a year away. This makes me sad. Here is the footage:

LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe Seems To Be Enjoying himself on MAYHEM FEST

In the many occasions we had the pleasure to hang out with Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, he struck us as one of the most realest dudes in metal, always very friendly with everybody around him. And, clearly, he is proving he is all about having fun on Mayhem Fest. He is all over the behind the scenes videos Mayhem Fest has been posting (with Juliya hosting) and he's even been crashing some of the other bands' sets to get in on the fun. Above is his recent contribution to Chimaira's set and here is him on "Hatebreed holiday" as he called it: (more…)

Has It Been A Year Since The Last Gathering of The Juggalos?

Posted on July 19th, 2010

I can't believe it's been an entire year since I wrote about the groundbreaking infomercial for the 10th Annual Gathering of The Juggalos. That's right ninjas, the 11th Gathering is right around the corner and due to all the success of the last one, the production on this infomercial is a huge upgrade. Unfortunately, it's not as funny as last year's over the top clip as I found myself losing interest quick. But hey, if you go – you get to see Gallagher perform live – the real one, not that Gilligan looking mofo. And you get to watch a wrestling show at 4am with only flashlights providing the lighting. Sounds very safe. My final thought is that I can't believe Method Man and Redman agreed to do this. Then again, I'm sure it's just a paycheck for them. Here is the video…

A/V Roundup: KORN Live Concert in Crop Circle; New Music from KATAKLYSM, BORN OF OSIRIS

Posted on July 12th, 2010

http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=105785660

Wow, I don't know where Korn got the budget for this, but they just released a 90 minute live concert clip FOR FREE (watch it above). The band played in a crop circle (most likely of their own doing) and shot it with multiple cameras reminiscent of the very excellent Pink Floyd Live In Pompei home video. If you're a Korn fan, you will enjoy this. If you are not, you will find yourself asking Why couldn't a band like Isis get a budget to do something like this?

Kataklysm have posted a new song on their MySpace page. The track is called "Determined (Vow of Vengance)" and will be on their forthcoming release, Heaven’s Venom, out August 24th on Nuclear Blast.

Born of Osiris are collaborating with Periphery mastermind Misha Mansoor behind the boards for their upcoming release. The band has posted a 3-song teaser on their Myspace page (last song in the player). Sounds very interesting.

Don't forget, we're still giving away tickets to upcoming Mayhem Fest dates. Enter to win right here.

CEPHALIC CARNAGE unleash the first taste of new material

Posted on July 9th, 2010

Cephalic Carnage

Cephalic Carnage have posted the first taste of what the material on their new release, Misled By Certainty and it shreds. You can head over to the band's MySpace page to hear the track, "Abraxas Of Filth” which features Ross Dolan of Immolation doing back-up vocals. The track itself starts out with a quirky intro and then progresses in to the band's signature sound. It's an awesome track making me really reealllly anticipate this new record. The album comes out August 31st and can be pre-ordered here. The band will spend the next few weeks blowing minds on the Summer Slaughter tour

A/V Roundup: EVERY TIME I DIE new internet series; KORN Album Streaming; New ION DISSONANCE track

Posted on July 7th, 2010

Every Time I Die's DVD, Shit Happens, may be my favorite band DVD of all time due to the sheer entertainment value these guys possess. Plus, they introduced the term shinfo into my lexicon. Well, turns out director Doug Spanenberg went on the road with the band for a 12-week online series they are also calling "Shit Happens". The teaser trailer is above. We are very excited.

We know there are quite a few of you junkies who are Korn fans and are probably very eagerly anticipating their upcoming release, Korn III: Remember Who You Are. Wait no longer! The entire album is streaming right here. Don't forget the band is spending the Summer on Mayhem Fest which we are still giving away tickets for.

Finally, Ion Dissonance released their first bit of new music from their upcoming Cursed release titled "After Everything's That Happened, What Did You Expect?" Oh, those guys and their long song titles. It's pretty crushing, making me want to hear the whole album immediately. Take a listen below:
