Every chance pretty much anyone gets to ask any member of Tool about a new record, they will. Which is fair considering it's been nearly 10 years since 10,000 Days and every so often we hear a bit of news that never quite comes to fruition. For instance, back in March we reported on the lawsuit that allegedly was holding Tool back from making new music had ended, so naturally we celebrated a little! When would we hear some new music? When would it be done? Hell, even in February the rumor was the band was getting pretty close to being in the studio.
Now, in September 2015, Maynard James Keenan delivers unto us the good news via an interview with Rolling Stone! A new album is… nowhere in sight? When asked what's up with the new Tool record, Keenan responded with this snarky gem.
"I write lyrics and melodies to music. If I don't have music, I can't."
I'm really starting to wonder if 10,000 Days was the name of the record or a warning to fans. Don't get me wrong- the next time we hear things are moving along again we're still going to jump out of our skin. We'll just be extra sad when it turns out that it, like all new Tool record promises, wasn't true either.
