Punky doom albums. We need more of them.

Punky doom albums. We need more of them.

In the land of ten thousand Black Sabbath ripoffs operating under the labels of "stoner" and "doom" comes a band that clearly thought about doing so, but never quite got around to it. Portland, OR quartet R.I.P. will be releasing its new album In The Wind on December 9 via Riding Easy Records, and it's anything but your standard doom record.

R.I.P.'s sonic signature sounds like an old school rock n' roll band that takes its cues from the likes of Dead Kennedys and Ghoul, and the metal world is all the better for it. Where else will you be torn between grabbing your skate deck and lighting a joint? Not that you can't do both at once…
