Hey there tech fiends, it's that time of the week again. I'm excited to be back bringing new music to your ears all year long. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual reminder that if you're looking for more sick music, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

While 2018 has come to an end and was a standout year for fans of progressive and technical death metal, we've got an early premiere of "Kallara B" from Raleigh, North Carolina newcomers Septicemic to kick your 2019 off right with something badass.

For now, the song we're premiering below is a standalone single, but the band's guitarist Josh DelVendo mentioned that "Kallara B" is going to be a standalone single. We do have plans to have our debut full length somewhere in the range of late 2019 to early/mid-2020, the good news is that it's already almost fully composed as far as strings go."

For more background information on the band and their sound, Josh further explained: "We have been writing and playing shows around our home-state since November of 2016, followed up by our debut release titled "Vrykolakas" on January 2nd of 2018. I ( myself ) am the main composer, and I really wanted to do something that was a bit out of the box for technical death metal. We wanted to try to make that "blackened" element a prevalent and defining quality in our sound between the high dissection like unsettling vocals, love craft/legend inspired lyrics,  unorthodox harmony/counter melodies, fast and big sounding drums, etc.

Clocking in at just two minutes in length, "Kallara B" packs a whole lot of shred and killer musicianship into that short span in a way that feels natural and never forced. In line with the band's explanation of their sound above, "Kallara B" converges at the nexus between tech-death, melodic death, and black metal in a manner that reminds me of Arsis, First Fragment, and Inferi to degrees.

This is a damn impressive song Septicemic has created on "Kallara B" and it feels like a step up from their already well-developed sound on display throughout their January 2018 EP, Vrykolakas. So be sure to jam "Kallara B" below and follow the band on the Septicemic Bandcamp page and Septicemic Facebook Page moving forward.
