SCIENTIST Shine on New Track, "The Lighthouse"

Chicago's self-proclaimed "architectural metal" quartet are giving lessons on constructing experimental monuments.

Chicago's self-proclaimed "architectural metal" quartet are giving lessons on constructing experimental monuments.

Chicago's experimental quartet, Scientist, is a synthesis of members of Yakuza, Taken By the Sun, and Making Ghosts. To their discography, they have released a self-titled album in the summer of 2013 and are following that record up with their second studio album, 10100II00101, which arrives on December 11th through their Bandcamp page and Hell Comes Home Records. Members of the band refer to their music as "architectural metal". They want their listeners to place this title alongside their music and imagine their sound as an imaginative and imposing structure.

In an effort to promote their upcoming album, the group premiered their song, "The Lighthouse" on No Clean Singing.

Simply stated, "The Lighthouse" is bathed in dissonance. Its discordant tempo refuses to let you settle into its six minute runtime. Instead, opting to yank you through jarring drum patterns, dizzying guitar solos, and fuzzy bass. It serves as a great introductory track to an album which is exemplary in showcasing the prior endeavors of the band's members and the overall production team, which includes Sanford Parker and Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Minsk).
