Remembering Cliff Burton, Who Died 25 Years Ago Today
- Posted by RobInjection on September 27, 2011
Wow, I can't believe it's been 25 years since original Metallica bassist, and seemingly cool-as-fuck dude Cliff Burton died in that tragic bus accident when their bus skidded off the road in the south of Sweden. Cliff was only 24 years old. Often since then, many have wondered what would have happened to Metallica, and music in general if Cliff was still alive today. While live-blogging the Big 4 show in NYC, I joked:
While Orion plays, let’s take a moment to remember the greatness that was Cliff Burton, and to think, if he was still alive today…. he would’ve quit Metallica a long time ago.
I was kidding, of course. Who knows how Cliff would've ended up? Maybe, the Metallica we see today wouldn't be too different had Cliff still been alive. He might've been right there with them, chopping off his locks, and then later confirming that his lifestyle does indeed determine his deathstyle. Here are some more videos of Cliff, and let us know in the comments how you think Metallica would've ended up had he still been around.

I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't let tallica do this shit with lou fossil ! or maybe he would sue the band after Black and that was their end Like pink floyd
He would have quit Metallica after the Load/Reload sessions.
He would have quit after And Justice for All, or maybe a different album not called And Justice for All. He probably would get tired of the music business and record company demands and go home and play in a progressive/stoner metal band of his own liking.
GOD BLESS CLIFF BURTON!
If cliff hadn't died there would have been no Justice or Black album. Metallica wouldn't be as big as they are, but they would have never released such travesties as Load/reload and St anger. and forget all this lou reed garbage… it shouldnt have happened
