The Illusory Self is the new band featuring multi-instrumentalist Steve Drizis of Dead Wake and vocalist Dan Kelly of The Hudson Horror. The duo will release their debut EP Praise The Fantastic on June 27, but we're streaming both songs for you today! The EP is a solid mix of old school blackened heaviness and almost a Woods Of Ypres-type of clean tone.

Kelly says the song "Garmonbozia" is about dealing with the loss of a loved one from drug addiction, while "Run With Dragons" is about clinging to beliefs and hobbies established as a kid even though everyone else has grown out of them.

The idea of the record was to expand off the idea of "the illusory self" and the duality that exists between what is real and what is perceived by the self. We have dual themes existing on a few levels in this record. We felt it would be cool to do this kind of concept for our introduction to the world.
