One of these projects was an appearance in the film Johnny Cash: Forever Words, which was directed by Cash's son John Carter Cash. The film shows famous musicians putting the words of Johnny Cash's poems to music.

Cornell sang Cash's poem "You Never Knew My Mind." The entire album, Forever Words: The Music features famous artists singing Cash's legendary words.
