Tech-Death Tuesday: BURIAL IN THE SKY Tap Into Ghostly Halloween Energy on "Tesla"
Hey there tech fiends, it's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus on Burial In The Sky, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.
In 2016, Burial In The Sky released one of my favorite tech-death releases of the year with their debut album, Persistence of Thought. The group's atmospheric and mellow ambient infused take on tech-death really won me over. So here we are with a special Halloween premiere of their new single, aptly named "Tesla".
While this is a standalone song, for now, I've been told that it's part of the group's second full-length which they're dead set on releasing in 2018. As for "Tesla", it carries much of the sound and spirit of their prior style from Persistence Of Thought, but compositionally, approaches their sound from a different angle. In addition, the influx of new members in the group has lead to a different embodiment of their core sound. As a result, this feels heavier and nastier, topped with deeper growls that are different than the vocals on Persistence Of Thought. At the same time, "Tesla" is quite ethereal and the sublime keyboard layers woven into it gives it a unique flavor too.
I'd consider "Tesla" a portent of good things to come. An omen if you will, which makes it all the more fitting since it's Halloween today. If you haven't heard Persistence Of Thought, you can check it out at the Burial In The Sky Bandamp page. Be sure to follow Burial In The Sky over on their Facebook Page too.
