New GORGUTS Song Now Streaming!

Gorguts' Colored Sands is one of the most anticipated albums of 2013. Reaffirm that it's going to be an amazing record right here and now with the title track from the album!

It's safe to say that Gorguts are back in full force, which is amazing considering this is their first studio album in 12 years (the last one was From Wisdom to Hate in 2001). The single presented here is a pretty solid indication of what you should be expecting from the album; technical metal with serious style and all the strange ideas one can muster, packed into a series of songs. Or song in this case.

Band mastermind Luc Lemay had this to say about the song when spoken to by Decibel Magazine

The song “Colored Sands” tells the story about the intricate, poetic, mystic ritual of drawing sand mandalas. Tibetan pilgrims can walk for months, sometime a whole year, prostrating face to the ground every tree footsteps until they reach the place where the mandala will be executed. Once the mandala completed, the monks will dismantle the mandala, and take the sands to the closest stream of water. This stream will bring the sands to the river, the river to the immensity of the ocean to spread the mandala’s peace and beauty to the planet. The single harmonic, in the beginning of the song, pictures a single grain of sand hitting the ground…then with the pattern in 5 slowly appearing, illustrates the five elements in the Tibetan philosophy such as: air, water, fire, earth and space which are embodied in the mandala through their specific colors. From there the mandala slowly takes form in the music.

Anyway, the record is out on Seasons of Mist August 30. Pre-order here!
