Metallica would go to great lengths to defend the drum sound on St. Anger as "raw" and exactly what they wanted even though virtually everybody else agreed it was distracting and for the most part, really bad.
I guess Youtube user data_dreams 2000 really wanted to prove that point because he sampled the awful tin can snare drum sound and then replaced the snare on the band's classic single "Master of Puppets" to beautifully awful results:
