Grindcore Cover of DAVID BOWIE's "Suffragette City" By VENEMOUS CONCEPT Is Incredible
While David Bowie did not make heavy metal music, his influence on the genre can be seen just by the amount of heartwarming tributes that have risen from the metal community. Some tributes have come in musical form as well, as Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess released a brilliant piano cover of "Space Oddity". This next cover takes things in a different direction.
Venomous Concept, the grindcore supergroup featuring members of Napalm Death and Brutal Truth just released their spin on the famous Bowie classic "Suffragette City," and it's the best type of cover… one where the band totally puts their own spin on it. I've listened to this three times while writing up this post:
Frontman Kevin Sharp explains the cover:
“I guess I mirrored a lot from Bowie’s plot. Nothing the same twice..Everything looks and sounds a bit different. So we did a bit of tongue and cheek here. Music will have less color from the last few months – cancer is like that. So celebrate what you got. There is no other choice. Thanks for the songs and random direction you put life on.”
Venomous Concept just released Kick Me Silly; VC3 on Season of Mist, and it can be streamed in full here.
