Dave Mustaine's Favorite Riff To Play Isn't One Of MEGADETH's Hits, Surprisingly

Surprisingly not "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" or "Symphony Of Destruction."

Megadeth's catalogue has quite a few riffs that you could easily call iconic. "Symphony Of Destruction" and "Holy Wars… The Punishment Due" are the two that immediately come to mind, though songs like "Tornado Of Souls" and "Hangar 18" are up there as well.

So in a recent interview with Ultimate Guitar, it's pretty surprising that Dave Mustaine picks "Loved To Deth" from Megadeth's 1985 debut album Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! To be fair, Mustaine says it's "one of my favorites," so the aforementioned tracks could still make the proverbial list.

"Probably the riff in 'Loved to Deth.' That's one of my favorites because it’s really difficult to play and it's got a really cool funky rhythm pattern to it.

"So to play it right is one thing but to play it right and sing is a whole other ball game."

Check out the riff below, which is exactly as funky as Mustaine says.
