Danny Carey Plays The TOOL Classic "Vicarious" With A Bunch Of Kids

danny carey tool

I could never "read" Tool drummer Danny Carey. Was he a nice dude or kind of a, ahem, tool? I was once with a friend at the NAMM convention and we ran into Carey and my friend asked Carey for a photo together, after spending a few minutes talking up how big of an influence Carey was, and Carey deadpanned that he doesn't do photos and just walked away. It was sort of weird and kind of left a band taste in my mouth about his overall personality. But, he didn't owe my friend a photograph, so it's hard to be super-mad, but the whole situation just struck me as weird.

I guess not, because recent video footage shows the dude jamming out with some members of the LA School of Rock. The teens got Carey to sit in on two tracks, "Vicarious" and Led Zep's "Whole Lotta Love." This is a super-cool move by Carey and sort of erases any previous image I had of him. Here are the videos:

oh, but this doesn't mean danny carey is not a dick (drumming skills aside). I mean, maynard is a HUGE narcissistic asshole, and I can't imagine the other tool members are a bunch of sweet dudes. like, he didn't get paid to play with these kids? come on
