COBALT's New Song Will Cause "Beast Whip"-lash

It has been nearly seven years since Cobalt released new music. Thankfully, the wait is finally over!

Extreme metal duo, Cobalt, is returning this year with a new and long-awaited album called Slow Forever that follows up their massively acclaimed Gin album in 2009. It will be the first with new vocalist, Charlie Fell (formerly of Lord Mantis). Cobalt consisted of multi-instrumentalist, Erik Wunder, and then-vocalist, Phil McSorley. Cobalt split in half in 2014, with Wunder carrying the band into the future. Fell joined the fold in the summer of last year and helped Wunder pick up the recording of the new album.

Yesterday, the world was given its first chance to hear a full song from Slow Forever courtesy of NPR. The song, entitled "Beast Whip", is a 9-minute clinic on diversifying extreme metal. Throughout its duration, it delves into thrash riffs and groove before flipping into a sort of-stoner style where Fell's voice goes from a high-pitched roar to a low-rolling bellow.

Slow Forever arrives March 25th through Profound Lore Records. Check out "Beast Whip" below.
