CANDLEMASS Finish Up First New Album With Vocalist Johan Längqvist In 32 Years

Hopefully titled Epicus Doomicus Metallicus 2.

Hopefully titled Epicus Doomicus Metallicus 2.

Candlemass recently announced they were in the studio with vocalist Johan Längqvist for the first time since their 1986 debut album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. This wasn't a recent development either – Candlemass has been in the studio for the better part of the year and only recently announced the re-addition of Längqvist. They've now announced that the new record is completely and totally done being recorded and will be mixed in October for a spring 2019 release date.

You can read a little bit about the record below and even hear some of the new music, which frankly does sound awesome. Also, I personally vote for the band to name this new record Epicus Doomicus Metallicus 2: Epic-er, Doomier And More Metal.

"Hello Doomlovers!

I just wanted to tell you that we are done with the recording part of the album. It has been a year or so in the studio, lots of work, but the end result is so good so I think it has been worth all the sweat, toil, headaches etc. It actually sounds fxxxing Great!! Johan is back in the band after 32 years, so that’s also something worth celebrating, hehe… you can hear 3 snippets on our social media. The record will be mixed in October for a spring release on Napalm. I truly think this is the best thing we’ve done in a looong time! Lot’s of gigs for 2019 are being booked right now. I’ll get back to you regarding this and other stuff very soon:-)

Stay Depressed, Leif"
