A few weeks back, Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor suggested that he has a new side project in the works, at the time he said:
It’s not a supergroup or anything, it’s just me and a couple friends of mine from Atlanta here. I’m playing live drums on it and it’s got a bunch of dark, heavy Moog stuff, so it’s pretty cool. I’m doing some singing on it as well. I think we’ll probably release a song in the next couple weeks.
Dailor has made good on his promise. The project is called Arcadea and besides Dailor on drums, the other musicians are listed as Core Atoms and Raheem Amlani.
Much like the band name suggests, Arcadea sounds like proggy music you would find in a retro arcade game, which is to say it sounds like a really fun project. Here's the band's first piece of music, a track called "Gas Giants"
