AEROSMITH Performing With POST MALONE Was As Close To A Metal Moment As The MTV VMAs Got

It's certainly metal-adjacent, and very much hard rock.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: As a kid, I looked forward to every Video Music Awards with tons of anticipation. When I turn it on now I find myself asking "who the hell is this person?" Oh god, I'm so old!

But not as old as Aerosmith. The sexagenarian rockers are back in the public eye after announcing a Las Vegas residency last week, with performances on The Today Show and The Tonight Show. While the band may not have been considered heavy metal, they are certainly metal-adjacent, and very much hard rock and basically the only thing even resembling heavy metal on the show.

They were brought out on the back-end of a Post Malone performance. Malone, who coincidentally has a huge affinity for heavy metal, began the medley by performing his inescapable hit "Rockstar." Seriously, if you've been in a public setting where pop music is being played, you've likely heard the track this year.

Anyway, Malone picks up a guitar in the middle of his performance and then the stage changes and all of the sudden it's Aerosmith performing "Dream On" with Malone on guitar and then frontman Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry and Post Malone all performed "Toys in the Attic" and the crowd seemed into it.

Remember when Guns N Roses made their return at the VMAs and Axl ran around so quickly that he blew up and couldn't breathe?

They did much better in 1988.
