ADAGIO's First Proper New Song In 7 Years "Subrahmanya" Is Proggy, Surprisingly Heavy

Finally!

Finally!

Adagio caught my attention in 2009 with its Archangels In Black record, and for good reason. It was symphonic power metal-type stuff with plenty of death metal vocals, excellent compositions that dove into the angular and strange, and never shied away from touching on a lot of metal sub-genres. After that, we got a whole lot of nothing for 7 years.

Now Adagio is back with vocalist Kelly Sundown Carpenter (ex-Outworld), violinist Mayline, and drummer Guillaume Bergiron, for a new record called Life! The album dos not have a release date just yet, as it's currently being recorded and funded, but a 2017 release date seems inevitable. More importantly, we've got a single from the album called "Subrahmanya," and it's everything I wanted from Adagio after 7 years. It's heavy, it's extremely progressive, and it winds down a songwriting road that doesn't fear wherever strange lands it may go.
