The metal blogosphere blew the fuck up yesterday when the Belgian festival "Metal Méan" posted on their Facebook that Nachtmystium had broken up. According to frontman Blake Judd, the band is not breaking up at all and will be releasing a new album at the end of this year.  (more…)

Is it fucking June already? The new Black Sabbath album — the first album featuring Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Ozzy Osbourne in 35 years — is set to drop on June 11, and the band just released a video unveiling the cover artwork.

When you create something this fucking awesome, you have to give yourself some time to prepare. That is why details have been announced seven months in advance for Philip Anselmo's inaugural Horrorcore Horror Film Festival, which takes place this October in Austin, Texas.

Not only will Eyehategod and Crowbar be performing during the festival along with Down, Warbeast, and Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals, but influential Mayhem frontman Atilla Csihar will be performing a soundtrack, so to speak, during a special screening of the silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. THE CONTORTIONIST Loses Singer Due To Impeding Child

Singer Jonathan Carpenter parted ways with The Contortionist over the weekend, because his longtime girlfriend is about to his first child. According to a press release released Friday afternoon, Mike Lessard of Last Chance To Reason will be temporarily replacing Carpenter on the road for the remainder of their dates.

Black Tusk has finished recording its new EP that will be released sometime this Spring on Relapse Records. I'm not sure of the name, but I guarantee you there will be mad riffage. Kylesa vocalist Phillip Cope returned to produce and record the new EP, which is supposed to serve as a gateway between 2011's Set The Dial and the band's next full-length album. (more…)

The band recently wrapped up recording with Chris "Zuess" Harris at the infamous Planet Z Studios, which has produced some amazing records from Crowbar, Soulfly, and Municipal Waste, among a ton of others.

MESHUGGAH, MASTODON And More Donate Items To BARONESS Relief Fund

It's no secret that Baroness suffered a very serious bus accident last summer, which left several Baroness members and crew with broken bones. Friends of the band have launched Baroness Relief, an upcoming benefit auction which will help pay the band's mounting medical bills.

Some items that will be auctioned off include Brann Dailor of Mastodon's snare drum that he used during the recording of 2004's Leviathan. Other instruments, signed LPs, posters, and artwork have been donated by Mastodon, Napalm Death, Kylesa, Neurosis, Municipal Waste, Meshuggah, and Red Fang among others.  (more…)
