Are the April Fools Jokes done yet? Seems every April Fools I want to disconnect from the Internet and find a secret, undisclosed bunker until it's all over. Fortunately we were able to pick up some great music before the April Fools nonsense really took effect, and were able to bury ourselves in our headphones [...]

This was a big week for tour announcements. Mayhem Fest and Summer Slaughter both revealed their summer's lineups, as did Lamb of God and the Scion Rock Fest. We also posted rare video from Sepultura which was awesome. Here are the top 10 most visited pages of the week: Rockstar Mayhem Fest 2013 Lineup Confirmed [...]

Alright, I wasn't really on-board with Tool reissuing their Opiate EP when I first read about it. All it was at first was just some extra art… but now the game has changed.

Let's be real about this: Clutch is one of the only hard rock bands in the world worth caring about. A howling, bombed out wilderness destroyed by the endless stream of cookie-cutter post-post-post-grunge bands that somehow still exist, most of the genre's talent has been siphoned off into the various indie subdivisions or receded further into [...]

Yeah, I know; I'm at the point of barely even giving a crap either. The fact of the matter is that as much as I say I don't care, I'm all friggin' over new information… because it's Tool.

I got very excited when looking in my inbox and finding a press release for a new Tool release. Of course, Tool said they'd be putting out a new album this year, until Maynard crapped on that parade so I was like "wait a minute??" Turns out the band is celebrating the 21st anniversary of [...]

Are they or aren't they?! We've been going back and forth hearing that Tool is either halfway done with their new record or nowhere near done at all. First, their webmaster says the music is mostly done. Then, frontman Maynard Keenan says there are no new songs. Shortly after that, drummer Danny Carey said the [...]

First thing's first: Last week's winner! Congratulations to Marius Hetzler who had the best zinger: The Norwegian panda has mastered the use of rudimentary tools. He'll be getting a copy of the new Sword album on vinyl. Now for this week, in honor of Black Metal History Month, we are going to be doing black [...]

It's been a pretty massive week for metal news, with the trial of Randy Blythe, bands calling out other bands, members jumping ship, bands banned from venues and just some fun with silly band names. With that said, here are the top 10 most visted pages this week: The Czech Trial of LAMB OF GOD [...]

Everybody, myself included, got super bummed out earlier this week when TOOL frontman Maynard James Kennan declared that chances are we will not be hearing a new record from the band in 2013. Well, in a more recent interview with an Australian radio station promoting the band's upcoming dates there, drummer Danny Carey reassured us [...]

So close, yet so far. It seemed a new TOOL album was on the horizon. Their webmaster was even hinting that writing and recording of the music was halfway done. Last week, the webmaster followed up saying that a member of the band injured themselves while riding a Vespa, delaying the record. Turns out, the [...]

This week seemed way longer than it was, most likely due to my jet-setting to Anehiem for NAMM and back…and by jet-setting, I mean, sitting on a packed plane with annoying children for six hours both ways. Anyway, it was a pretty fun week in metal, with engagements, GIFs, new music and award announcements. Here [...]

Short on technical ability, long on old school spirit, Australia's Vomitor evoke something Quorthon might have released on Black Mark had the label been around in 1987. Back-to-basics NWOBHM riffs filtered through a filthy mire of trebly guitar crunch, topped with echoed dry heave vocals… this ain't a bad thing, y'all.

Huhuh, I said Tool member… When we posted the story yesterday about Tool guitarist Adam Jones proposing to his new fiance at the WWE Royal Rumble, the biggest piece of feedback was not a congratulations to Adam, but a question about when we can finally hear new Tool music. I decided to check out the [...]
