Self-empowerment is a theme across a lot of the Throwdown lyrics. "Tombs" is sort of a sarcastic tribute to those adversities that the band has overcome time and again and that have made them stronger people. The track comes off their last record "Deathless".

"Weaponized" is the 1st single from OCEANO's newest album, CONTAGION. Directed by Kevin J. Custer (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED, TOMBS, JUSTIN BIEBER), "Weaponized" features explosive performance footage of the Chicago deathcore heavyweights acting as a counterpoint to a high tension situation that builds throughout the video.

Brooklyn's Tombs plays a style of sludge metal distinct in its delivery from any other band around. Likewise, director David Brodsky takes standard notions of a performance video and imbues it with shadows and grit. A perfect pairing.

This past Saturday, I hopped in a van with Frank and a few of our homies and we drove down to Philly to attend the Decibel 100th Issue Anniversary show. Here are my vague recollections from that drunken evening. 

A few weeks ago, we reported on the sad news that Hydra Head Records would be shutting down in the next few months. Today, there is some hope that maybe they will not shut down after all. 

Decibel Magazine sure knows how to throw a party. Our favorite monthly metal publication will be celebrating it's 100 issue in January, and to commemorate the occasion, they will be curating a special live event with some absolutely killer bands, bands that I'm sure they feel properly represent the Decibel brand.
