Tesseract have decided to go a step further than One's 27-minute "Concealing Fate" suite, and just make the whole new album a solid 51-minute monster titled Altered State. Now we know the anatomy of it, the artwork, and when that monster is going to rear it's head. Oh, and then there's a mini tour.
Following my post on the origins of 25 Heavy Metal Stage Names, I thought what better sub-genre to focus the next iteration of the column on than black metal? It is after all the genre where stage names are taken so seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these musician's mothers were given a [...]
Deep, intelligent and forward thinking, UNEVEN STRUCTURE are set to release their debut album FEBRUUS on October 31st via Basick Records. The release is a thirteen piece concept spanning across two discs, mixing lush soundscapes with fierce polymetric Metal, think Pink Floyd's creativity meets Meshuggah's brutality with a side serving of Devin Townsend's progressive charm. Just over five months ago Black Sabbath, the band who the term ‘heavy metal’ was coined for, played their first hometown show in Birmingham in thirteen years. Tonight, their friends and fans in New Orleans super-group Down, rolled into ‘The Workshop of the World’ as a headliner themselves, of a completely sold-out show and with [...]
It is very likely that you have seen Sharon Ehman on the internet already, her clothes and her style have caused quite a stir in the world of metal recently. She creates her own clothing line, known as Toxic Vision So far this completely self taught designer has clothed Iced Earth, Dimmu Borgir and Morbid [...]
Click here for our massive photo gallery from this tour It’s been a hell of a rewarding Spring/Summer for me as far as kick-ass shows and festivals, and it seems as though the moment I recover from one grand metal adventure, I’m busy preparing for another one. (Hence my delay in getting these tour reports [...]
A few weeks ago, legendary Boston hardcore act Blood For Blood cancelled upcoming shows in Boston and New York. While they weren't releasing much reasoning for the cancellation, rumors started to spread it was due to the arrest of frontman Erick Medina. Rumors began circulating that it was due to Medina drunkenly pinning a thirteen [...]
Relapse is the twelvth, and what main man Al Jourgensen promises to be the absolute final record with the Ministry name tag on it. It's fast. It's heavy. It's Ministry. By now, you should know what to expect from these industrial titans. With some help from collaboraters, Mike Scaccia (Rigor Mortis), Tony Campos (Static X), [...]
As if overpriced Slayer condoms weren't enough, Slayer announced a new candy jar they're selling for $12.99 (wouldn't just an even $13 sound more evil?). Basically, it's a 99 cent jar they got at the Container Store, slapped a Slayer sticker on it, threw some candy inside and are now hocking it for thirteen bucks. [...]
Not too long ago, I went over to Double-Down Saloon to celebrate Frank’s birthday with the rest of the crew from Metal Injection and MetalSucks. Amidst the smoke and the booze, there was one obvious question I had to ask everyone: what were some of your favorite records of 2011? Having posted their lists a [...]
"Black Swan" is now our fourth taste of Megadeth's upcoming release, TH1RT3EN, and yet another winner. The chorus is infection, the riffs are solid, but overall I can understand why this is the fourth reveal and not the first. It's not as strong as "Public Enemy No. 1", "Never Dead" or "Whose Life (Is It [...]
Crack the Skye left me with some rather bittersweet and curious feelings towards the future and direction of Mastodon, one of the genre’s most successful bands to emerge from the extreme metal underground. While on one hand, I love that album to death for its boldness how much new ground the band covered. On the [...]
More information — cover artwork and track listing to be specific — has been revealed about the upcoming Megadeth release, titled TH1RT3EN. The album's theme is obviously the number thirteen, as the album will feature thirteen songs and will be Dave Mustaine's thirteenth studio album. This album also marks the return of original bassist David Ellefson. The [...]
Metal Injection sent roving reporter Chloe Scannapieco to Sonisphere UK last weekend, and she came back full of great memories of seeing Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Mastodon, In Flames, Slipknot, Volbeat, and others. We asked Chloe to write a blog about her journey and here is her recap of her expereinces in a field in [...]
