There was a lot of big news this week, we heard further (although smaller) developments in the Tim Lambesis trial, Jeff Hanneman's memorial celebration was announced, and those slimbags at Westboro claimed they will be there to protest. We also saw how lavishly Metallica's James Hetfield once lived and learned that Guitar World has a [...]
Periphery are on a bit of a break right now as they get ready for Summer Slaughter and guitarist Misha Mansoor decided "hey, why not cover a Meshuggah classic?" So that's what he did…
Record label Hydra Head are selling off a bunch of really cool stuff to close down their Los Angels HQ. Heartbreaking for most, but it could be one hell of a treasure trove for all y'all fans!
Full disclosure: I loved Korn all the way up until college, then I discovered Slayer. It was a glorious time. The band lost me after Issues and then they just kept putting out sub-par material. I remember re-visiting some of their older stuff not too long ago, and deeming it still listenable. Although, I probably [...]
It seems as though Tim Lambesis might be getting out of jail for the time being. The San Diego District Attorney’s Office has granted Tim Lambesis a new bail hearing tomorrow, May 17th. Lambesis had plead not guilty to one count of solicitation of murder after attempting to hire a hitman to murder his wife.
The summer of 2013 is shaping up to be a banner year for fans of Japanese doom metal. First, Coffins announced The Fleshland, their first LP in almost five years. And now Church of Misery have announced their next album, titled Thy Kingdom Scum, will be released on June 11th via Metal Blade Records.
California's Wreck & Reference aren't a band that's easy to categorize. They combine aspects of industrial, drone, noise, hardcore, and black metal into an auditory morass that, somehow, works surprisingly well. No Youth, the band's debut full-length, was released last year on The Flenser Records after the label decided to carry them based solely on the [...]
Bedwear is a merchandise line that not many bands choose to conquer. Last year, Municipal Waste released a snuggie for a limited time and that's really the only example I could think of. But this package from the Sword is way bigger than just a snuggie.
Arsonists Get All the Girls are ready to release their 5th record, Listen to the Color, which will feature former vocalist Remi Rodberg.
Palms, featuring vocalist Chino Moreno of Deftones and bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris and guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer from Isis, are all set to drop their debut on the world! The only thing left now is all the music.
At one point Killing Joke were one of the most bulletproof post-punk bands around. Releasing their first single in 1978, they were right there with Wire and Gang of Four as indisputable early pioneers of the genre. In an era of Cold War hostilities and Reaganomics the band's (dead serious) brand of apocalyptic beats and conspiracy-oriented lyrics hit home with an [...]
Geo·dissonance: the metal movement is proliferating to all corners of the globe. In its relentless display of vitriolic truths and the ugliest questions of existence, we can hear the resounding riffs of heavy metal in the most conservative pockets of society. As your Punjabi, riff-worshiping correspondent, I'vxe created Geodissonance to report the controversy: as metal [...]
In an effort to raise money for future releases, New York's own boutique extreme metal record label, Broken Limbs Recordings is selling some super rare cassettes, vinyl, and CDs via a Big Cartel shop they just set up. Most of this stuff is from the label owner's private collection and it's all offered on a [...]
It's been over a week since the shocking arrest of As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis, for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to murder his wife. Lambesis was arraigned last Thursday, May 9th, and plead not guilty to one count of solicitation of murder. Later in the day, video footage from the courtroom revealed the proescution's [...]
