As the weather warms up and tour season kicks into high gear, we're starting to see more marquee releases coming down the pipeline. This isn't a good time to get behind on your metal… playing catch up later is going to be a bitch from this point on.

The new controversial video from Artery Recordings artist I Declare War. Download their new self-titled album on iTunes. Here is what the band says about the video: "This is a really dark song that stresses thinking for yourself and not letting other people make you think or believe what they want you to. We shot it with [...]

The metal world was very concerned this past summer when High On Fire dropped off Mayhem Fest so that frontman Matt Pike could enter rehab for alcohol addiction. Thankfully, Pike came out the other side just fine, and the band recently completed a national headlining tour and were just announced as a part of the [...]

Unless you've been living under a rock, you have heard about the tragic shooting in Newtown, CT this past Friday, leaving 26 dead, most of which are young children. It was a horrific day in American history and affected everybody. Among those that were affected were Lamb of God, and frontman Randy Blythe. The band [...]

Last week, Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn was not feeling too fine. He had to be taken in for immediate emergency hernia surgery. The band was forced to temporarily drop off the Dethklok tour. He made it out of surgery fine, and after a bit of rest and recovery, the band announced today they will [...]

I made a comment yesterday on my Twitter that it seems safer to take a van, following the news that the tour bus shared by Shadows Fall and God Forbid caught fire the day before yesterday. I apparently spoke too soon, because Converge was in a van crash last night. The band hit a patch [...]

My sincerest apologies for this long overdue labor of love. My insatiable thirst for metal got the better of me this past spring and summer, and I admittedly took on far too much work than any one sane person ought to. Luckily, nobody has ever accused me of being sane…hence the backlogs and delays. The [...]

The Melvins are looking to make history by setting the Guinness World Record for the first band to play all 50 U.S. states and Washington D.C. in 51 days. That is literally one show every day in a different part of the country. Anyone who has been on tour knows just how easy it is [...]

Red Fang apparently like art, and as professional musicians it's not hard to see why. Red Fang have recently announced they are playing a benefit show scheduled for May 25th at Hawthorne Theater in Portland, Oregon to benefit something that hit's pretty close to home for the band's Aaron Beam.

So many good albums, so little time. Seattle's Agalloch, who I fell in love with deeply a few years ago through their atmospherical opus Ashes Against The Grain and have constantly came back and been amazed by how huge this band sounds. Whenever there is a rain storm and I am in a shitty mood, [...]

What the fuck is going on in Oregon? Some of the most forward thinking yet hazy, cerebral and generally unhappy music of recent years – Agalloch, Wolves in the Throne Room, Yob – has emerged, drunk on small batch craft brew, out of those fog shrouded hills to lay a vicious beating on our collective [...]

Looks like PxDx has a new drummer. Last night, guitarist Scott Hull posted this photo of drummer Adam Jarvis (Misery Index) announcing him as the new drummer. There is no word on why former skinsman Brian Harvey is out of the band, and while I loved his drumming, Jarvis is a more than suitable replacement [...]

During my usual late night quest to find sweet unheard of bands around the world, I recently stumbled onto the artwork of Dennis Dread. Dennis is a Portland, Oregon based ball point pen artist, album cover designer, and DIY fanzine maker (those things written, cut & pasted, copied, collated, and mailed by hand). A couple [...]
