Not too long ago, I went over to Double-Down Saloon to celebrate Frank’s birthday with the rest of the crew from Metal Injection and MetalSucks. Amidst the smoke and the booze, there was one obvious question I had to ask everyone: what were some of your favorite records of 2011? Having posted their lists a [...]

When it comes to thrash, I’m a very easy sell. So long as the songs are well made, have solid vocals, and most importantly, great guitar riffs, the album will be a winner in my book. By Ben Apatoff Shame on anyone who pronounces thrash metal to be dead. Bands like MUNICIPAL WASTE and SKELETONWITCH are fanning the neo-thrash flame with strong albums and awesome live shows. MEGADETH and SLAYER are releasing some of their best music in years. A poll in the MI forum is currently deliberating over the best [...]

The last time NJ thrashers GOD FORBID checked in with a new album, it precisely the huge step forward that only a few bands ever get–a bold and kickass record that distinguished God Forbid from every dime a dozen neo-thrash act and catapulted them into the elite of 21st century metal bands. Epic, conceptual, song-driven [...]
