File sharing and "illegal downloading" are very touchy subjects. Some musicians are not really into it (see: Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato, Yngwie Malmsteen) while some don't mind (Ulver, Lamb of God bassist John Campbell). Recently, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter was asked about downloading and the dude is fine with it.
Guitar nerds, this one is for you. Artist Max Dolton created a pretty sweet posted of a "master class" of guitar virtuosos, and I'm sitting here wondering if you could name them all. No cheating! All the answers below…
The big news last week was Rob Caggiano announcing he is leaving his position as guitarist of Anthrax to focusing on producing full-time. Naturally, every guitarist under the sun thought, "Oh hey…the band need a guitarist… I would be perfect for Anthrax!" Not so fast, buddy!
I've always found the practice of naming such a strange and fascinating concept. Today more than ever we put such a huge importance on finding the right name for things be it a nick name, stage name, band name, or even a profile user name. I'm sure at some point in your life you've even [...]
There is so much to love about the artwork to the new Yngwie Malmsteen album, Spellbound, that I don't even know where to begin.
Guitar virtuoso, and Thor Shredsteen's mortal enemy, Yngwie Malmsteen has launched a new guitar instructional website called RelentlessShred.com. The site has various membership levels, starting at $34.99 a month, promising "exclusive, never-before-seen content" showing you scales, nodes and arpeggios. The site sort of looks like it was built on Geocities, so I don't know how [...]
Yngwie Malmsteen is a guitar virtuoso, who, like many musicians, is very much against illegal file sharing. For some reason, this topic has come back into the news cycle, with the recent revelation that Century Media plans to sue people who downloaded some albums illegally. Anyway, Yngwie was asked recently about his thoughts on illegal [...]
If you were a hardcore fan in the '90s, there is no way you could have avoided Quicksand. They were "post-hardcore," and huuuge. But not huge enough to stick together, eventually disbanding due to lack of interest. Much like the Refused earlier in the year, the band has found a new following is out there [...]
There is no doubt that band tattoos are the ultimate sign of appreciation and loyalty for your favorite artists, it's like a band T-shirt you can't get off. I also have no doubt that metal heads are some of the most passionate group of music enthusiasts out there, so it came as no surprise that [...]

The fine folks at Revolver magazine have just released a second announcement about their annual award show, the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Previously, they announced performances from Marilyn Manson, Slash, Evanescence, Sixx:AM, and Black Veil Brides. You can also add Korn and Trivium to that list of performances. Dee Snider will be performing [...]
Look, Foo Fighters is not really a metal band, but time and time again, Dave Grohl continues to do really awesome fucking things, and say awesome things, that I can't help but write about him. The latest awesome thing was his now infamous speech at the Grammys this past Sunday, where he talking about learning [...]
We just got a furious email from the desk of Jersey guitar god, Thor Shredsteen, known for his series of behind the scenes videos here on Metal Injection. Mr. Shredsteen was recently made aware of an interview that his self-professed arch nemesis Yngwie Malmsteen gave, in which Thor claims Yngwie ripped him off "yet again." [...]
With the seven year anniversary of Dimebag Darrell's passing just yesterday, it means that the annual Dimebash at LA's Key Club to celebrate his life is just around the corner. Every year, a ton of Dime's musician friends gather, rage and jam in his honor, all for charity…100% of proceeds from the event will benefit [...]
