There aren't many bands that maintain a consistency while constantly progressing from album to album. It seems like everyone wants to renew and reinvent their sound so as not to bore their audiences. Dillinger Escape Plan is a band that has never, ever had this problem. Since their spastic beginnings releasing two smashing EPs until [...]
While many assume Baroness are still getting over their scary bus crash from last year, the band are ready to move forward. Even though two members quit the band, they have reassembled and released a new video diary announcing "here we are world, we're ready for you!"
When I first started playing bass in high school, my friend Thomas and I made it a point, as all metal youngsters do, to learn songs by our favorite bands. The two of us spent years slaughtering songs by Metallica, Black Sabbath, and, of course, Slayer. As a metal fan, it is hard to not address the [...]
The metal world is still shocked about the news that broke yesterday that Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman of Slayer passed away due to liver failure at the young age of 49. Musicians everywhere have been paying tribute, and here is a roundup of their kind words for the influential guitarist:
Last night was the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods and without question, the biggest one yet. Metallica performed! Anthrax got up on stage with Phil and Rex to perform "This Love?" Dillinger Escape Plan bled and breathed fire. Overall, it was a great night that we're still recovering from.
We just landed a west coast photographer by the name of Chris Sterffens and he has submitted his first gallery, the kick off show of the Metal Alliance Tour featuring Anthrax, Exodus, High on Fire and Municipal Waste. Check out the gallery here.
In what must've been a huge honor, Joey Belladonna performed the national anthem at this past Friday's Chicago Bulls game, when they faced the Orlando Magic. Belladonna was in town with his band, Anthrax, who were headlining the Metal Alliance Tour later that night. Watch footage of the performance shot by Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian:
Every year since it's founding in 2004, Baltimore's A389 Recordings has released a mixtape highlighting upcoming priority releases as well as some of the label's more obscure acts. The 2013 edition has just been released, and it's absolutely jammed with great music.
Slayer is experiencing their fair share of drama right now. Beyond just having contractual disagreements with Dave Lombardo, original guitarist Jeff Hanneman has not been in the band for two years. And, it looks like he might not be coming back. Gary Holt, Hanneman's fill-in has been with Slayer during that time and many are [...]
March is almost over, which means Amazon.com's ridiculous March Is Metal Month sale is also almost over. You only have until the end of the weekend to get your digitalpaws on some great metal albums all for under $5.99. Here are some highlights of the sale: Gojira – L’Enfant Sauvage Testament – Dark Roots of Earth [...]
Anthrax are currently headlining the killer Metal Alliance tour and on their last two stops, they invited some friends up on stage to have a good time.
There is so much going on in the Kylesa camp, we're behind on all their shenanigans! A few days ago, the stoner lords unveiled the artwork for their upcoming Ultraviolet album, which hits stores May 28, and now the band has just announced a brand new North American tour with support from Blood Ceremony, White [...]
If you like weed and death metal, this is the tour for you. I'm kind of shocked that High Times didn't come on board as a sponsor, because the copious amount of toking that will take place on the Hell In July tour will be legendary. Six Feet Under just announced they'll be spending July [...]
After a killer slate last week this Tuesday brings things back down to Earth… volume-wise there is plenty to sort through, but the highlights are a little fewer and further between.
