The metal world is still shocked about the news that broke yesterday that Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman of Slayer passed away due to liver failure at the young age of 49. Musicians everywhere have been paying tribute, and here is a roundup of their kind words for the influential guitarist:

Machine Head have been looking for a bassist for a little while now, and even had some big names like Christian Olde Wolbers formerly of Fear Factory try out. Now they're getting down to the wire.

Two years after breaking through with Furnace, Brooklyn's finest, Batillus, are back with Concrete Sustain, a collection of six fairly lengthy but surprisingly lean and focused updates on the band's industrial sludge repertoire. Representing more of a refinement of the existing Batillus sound rather than an evolution per se, Concrete Sustain dials back the atmospherics just a smidge without sacrificing any of [...]

Last week, rumors broke that former Killswitch Engage frontman Howard Jones was forming a new band. We confirmed the story and exclusively reported that the band would also feature All Shall Perish shredder Francesco Artusato. We just received a press releases from the band's management with further info on the project.
