Reviewing The Iron Will Tour (Kataklysm, Vital Remains, etc)
The Iron Will Tour has come off its Canadian leg to violently penetrate America with dose after dose of death metal. I drove up to St. Paul in the rain and then in circles downtown looking for a place to park, but I persevered, and made it to Station 4 in time to catch opening act Rose Funeral.
I wasn’t sure how this lone deathcore band would fit on a tour of death metal heavyweights. But when the band launched into their set, they proved themselves with a fury. Vocalist Ryan Gardner made several obscene stroking gestures which the crowd seemed to appreciate. “You know all the controversy, breakdowns versus solos,” he said. “Fuck all that. We’re here to play music. Even for zero dollars, we’re happy to be here and play you motherfuckers.”

CD Review: IN THIS MOMENT – Blood
In This Moment comes back with their latest release, Blood. People seem to be black and white when it comes to their opinions on the band. But they probably spark more interest than the next band due to their eccentric frontwoman, Maria Brink, as it always seems to be a ticket to fame to have a frontwoman in your metal band. However, it all comes down to the music, and whether or not the frontwoman can do more than simply be the eye candy. (more…)
CONVERGE Reveal All We Love We Leave Behind Album Artwork, New Track and Video
When Converge make an announcement, they go all out. Today, the band unveiled a ton of info about their highly anticipated new album, All We Love We Leave Behind, which hits stores October 9th on Epitaph. Not only did they reveal a new track and music video for "Aimless Arrow", which you can watch here, but the band also posted the cover art for the release.
As usual, the artwork was done by frontman Jacob Bannon depicting a lunar cycle. Pre-orders are now available, including a 17-track deluxe CD that comes with a hardcover book featuring 17 pages of original artwork.
Last week, the band announced a tour with Torche and Kvelertak, which I am beyond excited about. Converge is coming back around, and I couldn't be more excited!

Just A Photo of DANZIG In A Japanese Grocery Store
I don't know what it is, but photos of Danzig doing real life things are just fucking awesome, like the photo of Danzig in a parking lot, carrying some kitty litter. Look, we have a special category just for good ole Glenn. We love the guy! Interviewing him, on the rare occassion that he was in a good mood, and him saying I look like the son of The Big Show was a lifetime highlight.
So there is just something about a paparazzi-like photo, snapped by Mike Tully (who appears on the Jason Ellis show on SiriusXM Faction 41) of Danzig picking out juices in a Japanese grocery store that is hilarious to me. Danzig needs a replenishment of vitamin-C so he can move more bricks.

THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases Out Today – 8/28
It's been a rough couple of weeks, I know, but this is our salvation (in other words: I finally get to write some happy reviews). We have an incredible array of albums that range across the spectrum from good to absolutely amazing. In the latter category we have the highly anticipated release of Katatonia's Dead End Kings, a masterpiece of the highest order; other releases include some mind-bending technical wizardry from Dysryhthmia, a 70's prog/blues inspired rock/metal opera from Beardfish, and some classic Swedish death metal from Grave (really, Sweden's on a roll this week). Check em' out folks, here are the new releases for 8/28: (more…)

SLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor To Write Book About Ghosts
Where the hell does Corey Taylor find the time? In the last year, Taylor has released a book, went on tour with Slipknot, completed a Stone Stour record and will now be touring with Stone Sour. On top of all that, he's writing another book, this one focusing on ghosts and the paranormal.
Speaking with Minneapolis radio station 93x, Taylor had this to say about the book: (more…)

Dave Grohl Is Worth More Than Lars Ulrich, and Other Famous Drummers' Net Worths
It's always fun (and slightly depressing) to see these list of XX Richest XXX Stars, usually done by Forbes. Today, a site called CelebrityNetWorth.com (the fact that this site exists is a blog post on it's own) released a list of the 30 richest drummers in the world. Obviously, Ringo Starr came it at number 1, as let's be honest, nobody makes more money than The Beatles.
What's interesting though is that coolest man in rock, Dave Grohl clocked in with more cash than Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. Here is the full list, which also includes Dana Carey of Tool, Alex Van Halen and Neil Pert of Rush: (more…)

There Will Be No Death Metal At The Republican National Convention In Tampa, FL
Tampa, Florida is home to many seminel death metal acts like Deicide, Morbid Angel, Death, and the relocated Cannibal Corpse. It is also the home to this year's Republican National Convention, where Mitt Romney will be formally nominated as the presidential candidate to take on Barack Obama in the November election. One intrepid Yahoo! News reporter decided to ask why, and even got a quote from an organizer from the host committee, who had no idea of Tampa's prominence in the death metal scene saying: (more…)

First Date Leaks Of LAMB OF GOD's Rescheduled Tour
Lamb Of God are trying to put Randy's arrest and detainment in a Czech prison this summer behind them. The detainment resulted in the cancellation of their epic tour with Dethklok and Gojira. At the time of cancellation, Lamb of God promised a rescheduled headlining tour to kick off at the end of October. We mistakenly thought that meant the tour with Dethklok and Gojira would be rescheduled, but that will not be the case. The band has recruited their friends in In Flames and Hatebreed for the new tour, which is set to kick off on October 30th.
The sleuths over at Lambgoat have uncovered the first announced date of the tour, in Phoenix, AZ at Comerica Theater on October 30th. This could be the first date of the tour, or not, but we know for sure that Hatebreed and In Flames are attached to the bill.

METALLICA's Lars Ulrich Talks About His Earliest Musical Memories
Dave Grohl, aka the coolest man in rock, is working on a new documentary about Sound City Studios, the legendary LA studio that was home to many classic albums. He recently released a teaser clip, which you can watch above of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich talking about some of his earliest musical memories. More video clips from the doc can be found on it's official Youtube page.
In related news, here is a really fucked up shirt referencing Lars and Metallica courtesy of Vilpend.
