CONVERGE Announce 7" Split With NAPALM DEATH, All-Star Contributors
Who releases full albums anymore? Split 7" are all the rage, and Converge have just announced a new split they'll be putting out in the near future with grind godfathers Naplam Death. No release date has been announced yet, but it sounds ridiculous. Napalm's contribution will come in the form of two new tracks, "Will By Mouth" and "No Impediment To Triumph (Bhopal)". For their part, Converge will be including "No Light Escapes," the new track they have been performing live and a cover of Entombed's classic, "Wolverine Blues" featuring this ridiculous all star lineup: (more…)

BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's Old Bassist Gives Blessing To New Bassist; Will Still Contribute
When the Black Dalia Murder announced last week that they have officially welcomed Max Lavelle as their new bassist, everybody was like "BUT WAIT, I LOVED RYAN 'BART' WILLIAMS,' what happened to Bart?!? Being the awesome dudes that they are, the band didn't just let it die down and keep quiet, they tackled the issue full on, explaining that Bart was simply "over it" when it came to touring, something we hear all too often from band members who decide to quit gigs. Here is the official statement from the band: (more…)

So OLD MAN GLOOM Is Releasing New Music After All
Those lying mother fuckers! Last year, mega-producer and Converge guitarist, Kurt Ballou let it slip that Old Man Gloom would be entering his Godcity studios to record a new album. I got really excited. Then, Kurt was all like syyyykkkeee!!! and I was really bummed. But, turns out it's a double-sykkkeee because the band DID actually record a new album, they just wanted to keep it under wraps because they wouldn't be able to tour to promote it until May, which heyyy, they did announce tour dates, so it totally makes sense. Wow, the grammar in this post is awful, but that's just how excited I am at the potential of more Old Man Gloom. Here's a teaser the band's label, Hydra Head, posted on their Facebook page: (more…)

The New WHITECHAPEL Track Is Ridiculous
Whitechapel have kept a relatively low profile to kick off 2012. Sure, they have announced Recorruptour and will be spending the summer on Mayhem Fest, but the main duty of the band to kick off the year was to finish a new full-length album, which they worked on with Mark Lewis and the geniuses at Audiohammer studios. The band will be releasing a self-titled LP on June 19th and have just released the first full track from the album, "Hate Creation" (more…)

BLACK SABBATH Announce "Intimate" UK Show
Before today, Black Sabbath only had two official shows scheduled on their itinerary, UK's legendary Download Festival in June and then the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, IL in August. The band will be playing in front of tens of thousands of people at these shows, so naturally, they are going to need a warm up. And, a warm up they will have. The godfathers of heavy metal have announced they'll be playing the O2 Academy in Birmingham, their hometown, on Saturday, May 19. It'll be the first time Tony, Ozzy and Geezer performed together in 13 years. But, who will be drumming for the band? (more…)

DEATHSPELL OMEGA Announce New EP
Black metal fans rejoice; Deathspell Omega, in their typical low-key, don't-explicitly-mention-this-to-anyone style, have just revealed Drought as the name of their upcoming EP (it was really less of an announcement, more of 'the product appeared in the Season of Mist e-shop') The EP is set for a June 22nd release date, and you can pre-order it here. If you're familiar with the band (and you should be), you know exactly what you're in for; some of the most genre-bending, mind-fucking, wildly extreme music in recent memory. Paracletus, the conclusion to a trilogy of monumental albums, was without question one of my favorite albums of 2010. I'm incredibly eager to hear what they've conjured up next. The artwork for Drought is yet to be revealed, but you can hit the jump for a tracklist and a short but powerful teaser-paragraph from Season Of Mist.

METAL INJECTION LIVECAST #161 – Pisskilled
After a six week abscence, Sean returned to the show and joined Rob, Noa, Sid and 3D and began the show discussing testicles. Classy, as always. Rob and Sean then discussed their new band, Pisskilled and read off some some titles from their new EP. We talked about this German dude who doesn't understand the meaning of party pooper, we play Medicine Man a lot, we thrashed Aeropostle, we heard a new parody from Barfarella and discussed our favorite Pantera songs. Here is this week's playlist:
High On Fire – Bloody Knuckles
Doomriders – Black Thunder
Amorphis – You I Need
The Red Chord – Like A Train Through A Pigeon
Revocation – Dismantle The Dictator

GWAR's Oderus Urungus vs. HELLYEAH
GWAR front-thing Oderus Urungus has become the voice of the voiceless, saying everything that many metalheads are thinking. A few weeks ago, the entire internet collectively applauded when he told Dave Mustaine he needs to shut the fuck up. Now, Oderus has turned his gills onto another band, HELLYEAH, with a recent rant at a live show. (more…)

An Update From THE FACELESS On Their New Album
The Faceless's upcoming release has almost reached Necrophagist-levels of mythos. People have even come up to me asking if I knew when it would be released. I don't, only Michael Keene has the answer, and he addresses the question in the band's most recent video update, which you can watch above. Keene and bassist Evan Brewer discuss the process for writing the album, and commend new guitarist Wes Hauch, who they revealed contributes a new track to the album. Keene says during the update that nine songs have drums and guitars tracked, they still need to track the tenth song (Haunch's contribution) as well as do bass, vocals and mixing & mastering. They are aiming to be done by Summer Slaughter, but I'll believe it when I see it! Of course, you can check out an HD bootleg of a new Faceless song that we posted a few months back to hold you over.

Holy fuck balls gentleman! Dying Fetus have given us all a small preview of the shit-storm they are planning to release on June 19th through Relapse Records! Their new album entitled Reign Supreme sounds like a nine track romp through hell and the fact that we only get about thirty seconds of each track is the biggest cock tease in the history of cock teases. Now I have never been one to pine for residency in the south but this announcement almost makes me want to saddle up and ride into the sunset! Valient Thorr will be hitting the road with Holy Grail starting at the end of May for a small string of dates across the Southern states of the good ole' US of A. Roadrunner Records Closes International Offices
Update: Billboard has chimed in saying that 36 staffers will lose their jobs, 16 of which are U.S. based. Additionally, founder/CEO Cees Wessels is stepping down. It looks as though the European offices will remain opened, with a reduced staff. Original story follows…
Today is a sad day for those of us working in the music business. Word leaked over Twitter that Roadrunner Records was doing some reshuffling recently. The label was bought out by Warner Music Group in 2010, and whenever a label or a company is "bought out" or there is a merger, as much positive spin as is put on it, it ultimately results in job loss. Initially, there were some layoffs at Roadrunner, and today the other shoe has dropped. Roadrunner is supposedly closing their UK, Canadian and possibly German offices, at the behest of their parent company, WMG. There are rumors that some people in the U.S. offices have been let go as well. Roadrunner has been pretty quiet about the whole thing. Some Roadrunner artists are pissed, namely Trivium's Matt Heafy, who went on a mega-rant on Twitter: (more…)
