A/V Roundup: MESHUGGAH Trailer, Revolver Golden Gods commercial, new Music from DEMON HUNTER, CHRISTIAN MISTRESS, BEREFT, ASPHYX, SLASH
It's Monday and my sinuses are acting up. I am pissed off but luckily some new metal music will get me through the day. Here we go:
Meshuggah released a trailer for their upcoming release, Koloss, out March 26th. You know how excited I am for this record. We also posted some live bootleg video of the band performing a new song over the weekend. (more…)
Last year, we got the King of Metal, Dave Hill to interview the frontman of one of his favorite bands, Bobby Leibling of Pentagram. I wasn't at the shoot, but Frank told me that it was one of the most awkward shoots he's ever been on. Leibling is a character, and certainly has a great story, one which is the subject of a new documentary, Last Days Here. Filmmakers Don Argott and Demian Fenton followed Leibling around, get him to give up smoking crack and doing heroin and tried to help him ressurect his career and the band. The movie will be in limited release in theaters on March 2nd and on demand March 16th. More info can be found here.
While nobody can officially announce that Motorhead is going to be on this summer's Rockstar Mayhem Festival, due to Motorhead's current touring commitments with Gigantour, that isn't stopping Lemmy from talking about it. The Motorhead frontman confirmed in a recent interview that the band will be one of the main stage headliner's of this Summer's largest traveling festival. So that locks in the lineup as: Slayer, Slipknot, Motorhead on the main stage, and Anthrax, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, Whitechapel, High on Fire on the second stages. As usual, Mayhem provides a diverse lineup for fans of many different subgenres of metal.
When Nachtmystium's 2010 release, Addicts: Black Meddle, Part II came out, it did not come out of rotation in my music player for quite a while. These guys know how to write awesome tunes. Since then, they've released a new EPs but never a proper follow up, until now. The band is currently in the studio recording a new album, Silencing Machine which is scheduled to be released on July 31st on Century Media Records. The band posted a statement on their Facebook page announcing the new album: (more…)
With South By Southwest just a few weeks away, many bands are heading on the road to make their way to the week-long rager.Brooklyn's HULL is one of those bands planning a slew of shows for most of March. If the band is stopping in your area, we highly suggest you check their massive live show out. Here are the dates: (more…)
Job For A Cowboy come out swinging with the first single from their forthcoming release, Demonocracy. The single is called “Nourishment Through Blood” and it's the first we hear of new guitarist Tony Sannicandro. Holy ridiculous solos, Batman. Demonocracy comes out April 10th via Metal Blade Records. You can pre-order it here. [via MetalSucks]
In the trenches of vile, visceral music, first impressions are everything; I’m in this for the thrill. Nephelium go straight for the entrails on their full-length debut, dishing out delicious death with a heaping side of grind. I’ll have an extra helping. Coils of Entropy is not music for idle observation; these songs invite the listener to partake of carnage. (more…)
Vision of Disorder is fucking back, people! The hardcore band has signed to Candlelight Records, and plans on hitting the studio next month to track their next album with Will Putney (Shadows Fall, Suicide Silence) and Cameron Webb (Motörhead , Social Distortion). Founded in 1992, VOD completed 4 albums before disbanding ten years later in 2002. The band has gotten back together off and on for reunion shows since 2008, which included Slipknot's last two shows with Paul Gray. To test the waters and see how fans would react to new material, VOD released a single in 2011 called The Enemy, which fucking ruled! (more…)
We celebrated Sean's birthday on this edition of the Metal Injection Livecast. Every time a caller came on the show to wish Sean a happy birthday, Noa smacked Sean's ass with a "Slut" paddle. Here is video of him being paddled (best to watch after you listen).
We also talked about Dave Mustaine's eventful week. We got a call from the promoter of the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, Scott Lee, who gave away a pair of tickets to the show.We also played another awesome edition of The Dirty Pyramid game. Here is this week's playlist (selected by Sean): (more…)
This was a fun week in metal… we laughed, we cried, we watched Dave Mustaine further and further alienate his entire fanbase. Pretty much a typical week in metal, as far as I'm concerned. Here's what you may have missed:
The most controversial post on Metal Injection this week, is this video clip where The King of Metal, Dave Hill reviews modern black metal bands. Some of our junkies were none-too-pleased with his review skills.
Dave Mustaine couldn't keep out of the news this week. The controversial Megadeth guitarist had opinions against gay marriage, as well as controversial statements about women in Africa and how they should "put a plug in it"
We sent our best wishes to Max Cavalera as he recovers from bell's palsy.
We'll see you guys on Sunday for an all new edition of the Metal Injection Livecast, at an earlier time, 5pm eastern.
Welcome to another metal filled episode of MSRcast with your hosts, Evil C. and Bolthorn. Back to our regularly scheduled program, we bring you heaps of new metal, some underground metal, some brutalness, some sickness, some powery goodness, and everything in between. Thanks for tuning in and as always, Keep it Fucking Metal! (more…)
Well, this is probably the weirdest fucking news I have heard in a while, but I'm kind of interested to see how things pan out. Last night, Lil Wayne (probably the only time he'll get mentioned on MI) told 98.7 KISS FM's KISSing After Dark that the New Orleans label signed Limp Bizkit. (more…)
OMG, my good friend Jessa Blavatsky has done it again. You may recall she made a delicious Metal Injection cake, and this awesome Death Cake too, and now her latest creation…Abbath cake! It looks pretty delicious, and I can attest, her cakes taste great too. Check out Slaytanicakes, and get yourself a slice. Immortal are one of the featured music videos in our Black History Month special edition of our music video podcast, The Fix. [via MetalSucks]
It's fuckin' Friday. The week is almost over, and thankfully we got some new tunes to get us through the day. Let's get this shit going….
Overkill are putting out a new album, The Electric Age on March 27th. They have been documenting their recording process with video updates from the studio and have now released a new track from the album, Electric Blast, which is just the band at their finest. (more…)
The pilot episode of Warrior Show has been posted on Youtube. As we wrote about in the past, this is a new idea from the minds of the Ultimate Warrior and Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen. I still don't really get the point of this show, even after watching the episode. It starts with a little backstory on Warrior and the band, then, they meet, have a chat about their lives, and then Warrior makes them do a bunch of drills, so they can test their spirit or some crap like that. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, but instead I was just watching a few blokes running around with chains draped around their necks. If this sort of thing interests you, then watch the Warrior Show!
