TESSERACT To Release Acoustic EP
Anyone remember the acoustic songs TesseracT played for our video segment called Studio Sessions this past May? The band performed three songs with vocalist Dan Tompkins, who performed on their Century Media debut, and it pretty much ruled. TesseracT thought so as well, and now will be releasing a acoustic EP with a working title called Perspective that will contain three songs (much like the Metal Injection performance here) from their debut album, One, with their new frontman Elliot Coleman. No release date has been announced, but the EP will will see a Spring 2012 release according to the band. (more…)

A City On Flame With Rock 'N Roll
Friends are people with whom you can share a laugh, talk about important topics, share some great ideas over excellent music. This is one of major examples of what you can get at a family run, independent record store; a close knit community where like minded individuals come together to experience one of the things they all love, the music. I being a local to Central NJ, had Sound Station of South Avenue in Westfield NJ; the very place was music and because I shopped there I became immersed in everything the store had to offer. From friendly fellow customers to the ever fantastic store owner Bob Larsen; I became a part of something larger than the physical music housed within it's humble walls. This however currently remains a memory… (more…)

Mark Hunter Posts CHIMAIRA Demos
Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter posted four demos from the band's recording sessions for their most recent release, last year's The Age of Hell. Two of the songs were previously unreleased, as the songs didn't make the cut onto the final mix of the album. According to Hunter on Twitter, he only posted the songs that he wrote and arranged himself out of respect to his former bandmates Rob Arnold and Matt DeVries. You can access all the tracks on his Soundcloud account. [via MetalInsider]

LAMB OF GOD's Resolution Full Album Stream Now Online
For those of you who like to try before you buy, Lamb of God's new album Resolution is now available in full for free streaming at AOL.com. I refused to listen to the shitty pirated version of the album that leaked about a month ago, so I feel quite justified in my waiting. We reviewed the album last week, and gave it a 8.5/10.

ROTTEN SOUND Europe Tour Dates Announced, Grind Up!
The land of melodic death and folk metal is going to strike Europe from February to March this year with…WITH…Some grindcore, baby. Hey, if you think this sounds surprising, the Finns have some pretty good underground bands under the black metal sub-genre too, don't just remember them for Children Of Bodom all the time.
Rotten Sound have announced the tour dates for their Grind Over Europe Tour 2012. It will start on February 24 in Barcelona, Spain, where they will grind through 16 cities over a three-week period with deathgrind veterans Exhumed, and powerviolence trio Magrudergrind (WHERE IS WORMROT?!). (more…)

INTO ETERNITY Enlists Hot Chick To Sing For Upcoming Tour
Sometimes when you are the frontman of two touring bands, you can't always commit to everyone's schedule. Stu Block, Into Eternity's frontman, is one of these people. So while he is off playing with his other band, Iced Earth, Into Eternity will be touring without him. Luckily for that band, some hot chick from a band called The Order of Chaos will be stepping in for Stu. Tour dates aren't available yet. [via GunShyAssassin]

GENERAL SURGERY Re-Sign To Relapse Records & Announce Singles Collection
As if the delicious news about Aborted's new studio album is not enough to overwhelm the little, gore-happy kid in all of us, Relapse Records has recently announced the official re-signing of Swedish goregrind butchers, General Surgery!
Originally formed in 1988, General Surgery (Joacim Carlsson – guitar, Andreas Eriksson – bass, Andreas Mitroulis – drums, Erik Sahlström – lead vocals) released the seminal Necrology EP via Relapse in 1991 before going on a long hiatus until 2002. The band have released numerous splits, EPs, and two full-length albums since then, and they will be coming back amidst the deathgrind resurgence kickstarted by Aborted this year and first hinted at by Exhumed last year. MASTODON Confirm They Will Be Touring With OPETH & GHOST
YESSSSS!!!! A few weeks ago we reported on rumors that Mastodon, Opeth and Ghost might be touring together and that it HAD to happen and if it did, I would jizz myself. Well, it'a definitely happening… somebody hand me some tissues!
In a recent interview, the 'don's Troy Sanders confirmed that they will be headlining a tour with Opeth and Ghost in tow. Having just seen Ghost last week, I cannot wait to experience their amazing live show as well. Top to bottom this is a huge bill, and already a frontrunner for tour of the year. As soon as we have dates, you will hear about them!

SOPA – Searching Out, Putting Away
All of us should have heard of it by now: SOPA, the crazy bill American Congress is trying to pass to kill off the freedom offered by the Internet not found anywhere else on Earth, and not found anytime before the Internet's inception and popular mass reception. In a nutshell, SOPA is trying to turn the Internet into the world's second China/North Korea under the very fishy-sounding premise of protecting artistes and their copyrighted work.
It is pretty interesting then, to see what metal musicians have to say about this. Of course, I'll bet many other musicians from many different genres of music probably have already talked/argued at length about this earthshaking cyber event on their various online platforms, but since we're Metal Injection, let's just look at snippets of what some of these hard rock/metal musicians have been saying.
