CYNIC Announce NYC Release Party This Wednesday; To Perform Acoustically
Well this is phenomenal! A few days before Cynic headlines night two of the Metal Suckfest, the band is going to be performing an acoustic set and doing a meet and greet at one of our favorite bars in the City, Idle Hands. It all goes down this Wednesday, November 2nd at 8pm. The band will also have signed advance copies of their forthcoming EP, Carbon Based Anatomy which doesn't even officially come out for two weeks. It's going to be an awesome night. All the info you need can be found in the flyer attached to this post. We will certainly be there with full coverage for all you non-New Yorkers.

Of Course There Is A MORBID ANGEL Remix Album Coming Out
Before there was Loutallica's Lulu, the reigning punching bad of this site was the terrible new Morbid Angel album, Illud Divinum Insanus. Ugh, it was so terrible. The death metal legends released what was basically an industrial album, and on top of that could give a shit that most of their fanbase rejected it. Well, if you thought it would stop there, you're wrong, because a remix album is on the way in early 2012. Now you could be thinking, maybe the remixes will make the album sound better? But who are we kidding? You know it will just be way more industrial crap. Oh, Morid Angel, whyyy you do this to us?

THE OCEAN Announce Two-Week DIY Tour
The Ocean were opening for The Devin Townsend Project all month long, and then decided to stay in the US for an additional two weeks. But they didn't want to stay to sight-see. They wanted to do what they do best…play shows. So they called out to their fans saying they are willing to play anywhere, bars, house shows, garages and the fans responded so now we have two weeks more of The Ocean. The band will be playing super-intimate venues starting tomorrow, so if you're town is on the list, it might be a good idea to show up: (more…)

Symphony X and Iced Earth are both celebrating the releases of new albums, Iconoclast and Dystopia respectively. So they decided why not team up for a mega tour with mega-high pitched vocals (amIright?). Both bands will be hitting the road together early next year, and are bringing re-thrash masters Warbringer with them for a pretty killer package. The party starts on January 21st, 2012 in Hartford and goes all across the US and parts of Canada until wrapping up in Upstate New York. Here is the full itinerary: (more…)

A Week In Which We Saw A Crazy Japanese Girl Metal Band
It's Hallo-weekend. I was going to go dressed as the easiest Waldo ever to spot, but I never had enough time to buy my outfit, so I'm just going as 'the dude from Metal Injection.' I wonder how many people will figure it out. If you're spending the weekend indoors, or reading this after waking from a Hallo-hangover, here is what you missed this week:
Without question, the most viewed page this week (and last) was this page with these videos of Police Academy's Michael Winslow crushing some Led Zeppelin tunes.
We were absolutely stunned by this JapPop metal band with 12 year old gorls on vocals
The last few days saw a good amount of new music videos come through the pipeline. Check out new clips from Carnifex, Winds of Plague, Darkest Hour, Trivium, Tesseract, Machine Head, Korn, Leperous, Black Veil Brides, Huntress, and Volumes.
We posted a new song from Kvelertak, new live footage of Turbid North, Battlecross, Barn Burner, Arsis.
We learned that Metallica is working on a 3D film. We listened to Lulu and it sucked. Meanwhile, we found out Jason Newstead's current band sounds like.
We heard a rumor that Black Sabbath might be touring with Judas Priest and Motorhead in 2012, and we hope it's true!
We counted down our 15 favorite Beavis & Butthead metal video reviews in celebration of the show's return.
We looked back to a time when Roadrunner Records was the premiere death metal label in the world.
If you're going to party this weekend, don't forget to take a photo of yourself beforehand to submit to our Costume Contest, and you can win a sweet guitar. Also, remember the Livecast is now on Sunday nights from 7p-9p eastern, and this Sunday we'll have Michael Starr of Steel Panther on the show, so tune the fuck in!

REPOST: ESP Guitars, The Acacia Strain and Metal Injection present: THE GOD DAMN HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST
As you may know, The Acacia Strain is heading out on tour with Terror, Stray From The Path and Harms Way (dates here), and to celebrate that and the fact that Halloween is right around the corner, the band and ESP are teaming up with Metal Injection for a good old fashion Halloween costume contest. We want to see the most creative ideas you have, and the coolest costume will score themselves a FREE ESP LTD EC100qm guitar! How sick is that?
How do you enter? Take a photo of yourself wearing your costume by November 1st (the day after Halloween), upload the photo to Imgur, or any other photo sharing site. Post the link to your image in the comments of this post. We will stop taking entries on November 1st, and then pick the funniest, awesomest, most metal costume as the winner. Contest is open to US residents only (sorry guys, ESP only ships into the US). Have fun and let's see those awesome costumes!
UPDATE: In order to prevent cheating, when taking a photo of yourself, make sure to hold up a piece of paper that says either "Get Your Fix" or "Fuck The Acacia Strain"

THE FACELESS Back To Work On Their New Record
You may recall that a little over a month ago, the recording of The Faceless' new album was delayed as guitarist Michael Keene injured himself after tripping over a table and getting 17 stitches put in his hand. Ouch! You know the saying: time heals all wounds, and the Keene machine is healed and the band is back to working on new material, according to their Facebook page. The band is also teasing a headlining tour in early 2012. In the past, the band has hinted at potential tours with Job For A Cowboy and Cynic, so we'll see if any of those pan out.

Roadrunner Records Was A Totally Different Place in 1992
The fine people in the Roadrunner new media department unearthed some awesome label footage from about 20 years ago. Watching these two clips makes you realize what a difference 20 years makes. A&R rep Monte Conner is featured prominently in both clips, talking about all the death metal bands the label signed at the time, almost all of which are no longer with the label. Of course, the label has seen much success since this was taped, as this is way before Slipknot and Nickelback basically secured the finances of much of the label's top brass. These videos are a highly recommended viewing: (more…)
