Posted on September 30th, 2009

On this edition of the Metal Injection Livecast, we had two awesome guests! At the beginning of the show, we were joined by Ian Christe, author of Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal and Bazillion Points publishing and SiriusXM Bloody Roots DJ, who schools us with some metal knowledge about an upcoming metal cookbook, Sweedish kickers, and Hanoi Rocks. We are then joined by Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying/Austrian Death Machine who talks about his favorite Arnold movie, the recording of Austrian Death Machine. Both interviewees were questioned by one of our fans, affectionately known as The Googler. All that and Sid aurally molests Noa on this edition of the Livecast. Here is this week's playlist:

Entombed – Abnormally deceased
Hanoi Rocks – Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
Nanowar – To Kill the Dragon
Dragonlord – Blood Voyeur
Despised Icon – Day Of Mourning
Austrian Death Machine - Trapped Under Ice

Get your FiX with some of Joe from GOJIRA's favorite videos

Posted on September 30th, 2009

We have posted an all new edition of our bi-weekly music video podcast, The FiX. This week, we had the pleasure of being joined by GOJIRA vocalist Joe Duplantier, who picks five of his favorite videos which include choice cuts from METALLICA, TOOL, SEPULTURA, DESPISED ICON and a pretty sweet video from French band TREPALIUM (a band I've never heard of before).

During the course of the podcast we talk to Joe about various topics. He gives us some insight on what it is like opening for Metallica. Also, we find out that Gojira will be on break for 2010 and will return with new music in 2011. Finally, we get some hints that there will definitely be a new CAVALERA CONSPIRACY cd in the future!

Watch the episode now right here. If you'd like to download the hi-res version of the podcast, click here, or if you would like to subscribe to our podcast, you can do so via iTunes or RSS

TONY DANZA TAP DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA's new track will blow out your speakers September 30, 2009

One of our favorite band interviews ever, and Tony Danza's favorite band, THE TONY DANZA TAP DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA has posted an early demo of a track called "Yipeekayay Motherfucker" on their MySpace page. The track will surface on the group's upcoming release, Danza III: The Series Of Unfortunate Events. The band is in the studio now with a 2010 release scheduled.

IMMORTAL post new track

Apparently, we were too busy covering hipster metal before to post this, but black metal legends IMMORTAL have posted the first taste of their new CD, All Shall Fall on their MySpace page. It's the title track off the CD and it's exactly what you would expect a new Immortal track to sound like. Heavy, fast, and dark. The production sounds really good too. Happy Scott?

CD review: Dethklok, Dethalbum II

Posted on September 30th, 2009

By Ben ApatoffDethalbumii Even without the high profile of a deservedly popular animated documentary series, it's easy to see why DETHKLOK have the highest-charting death metal album in U.S. history. Their progressions are as melodic as mid-'80s OZZY, with even funnier lyrics. Nearly every chorus is a shout-along, and no matter how much PICKLES inflicts GENE HOGLAN-worthy punishment on his kit, Dethalbum II sounds like power metal and hard rock songs being subjected to a death metal makeover. Really, guys? Maybe I'm misunderestimating THURSDAY, but it doesn't seem right that some indistinguishable screamo act gets to headline over the best live band in metal. A church of heavy metal?

Posted on September 29th, 2009

In the past, when it came to churches and metal, the only other word that belonged was burnings! But recently, there has been a new tide. Bands have been coming out that were dubbed "Christian metal" spreading a positive message with br00tal vox. Well, one Columbian dude decided to take it a step further by creating the first heavy metal church. There is a traditional prayer then br00tal bible breakdowns!!! I'm not too sure how I feel about this…

CD review: ALICE IN CHAINS, Black Gives Way to Blue

Posted on September 29th, 2009

By Ben Apatoff

AIC_FINAL_COVERsmall New PEARL JAM sounding too soft? Still too soon to discuss the latest CHRIS CORNELL debacle? Fear not, grungeheads, because ALICE IN CHAINS are back with a record that's hard and bleak enough to earn the AIC moniker, no matter if only two guys who played on Dirt are showing up. It's called Black Gives Way to Blue, which could be describing the skin of moshers at recent Alice in Chains shows or SULLY ERNA's ego upon hearing this. (more…)

Hear SLAYER's "World Painted Blood" right now

OK, so not the entire album, but the title track for SLAYER's upcoming monsterpiece is now streaming right here. It's got an almost bluesy intro, an uncharacteristically slow solo and is probably the longest song they've released since "Seasons in the Abyss," yet it sounds like something only Slayer could come up with. November 3rd can't arrive soon enough.

DETHKLOK's Dethalbum II now streaming! September 25, 2009

That's right! Your favorite animated death metal band has made their entire album available via MySpace stream. So put down that twinkie and head over there to rock out!

New NILE song streaming September 24, 2009

Fellow NILE-ists, it looks like we'll be waiting a little longer for KARL SANDERS' band of noisemakers to go soft. The first song from their next album to see the light of day is “Permitting the Noble Dead to Descend to the Underworld,” and good lord, does that interlude sound like it came from the axe of Beelzebub. Hear for yourself.
